Upon review, here are some follow up notes, on what I saw in five new recruits not known to me. This preview includes recruits in all classes
Jordan Mahoney Jordan Mahoney 5’10” | 190 lbs | LB North Quincy H.S. Ma. | 2024 State New E He gives consistent effort each rep. Plays with aggressive instincts. On offense, he runs with a purpose and will fight for the extra yards. He uses a very good stiff arm and also has good lower body strength that allows him to break tackles. He finishes his runs with heavy impact on defenders, or additional positive yardage. He is a very productive lead blocker and can knock defends off their feet on impact. On defense, he reads and reacts well. Has a motor and shows impressive physical efforts.
Malachi Mcclean Malachi Mcclean ATH Thayer Academy | 2024 State New E He has two-way athletic potential in WR and DB skill sets. On offense, he shows the ability to pluck the ball in the air. Knows how to get seperation from defenders when facing man to man or zone coverages. He holds his blocks well on the perimeter. On defensive, he can flip his hips quickly and knows where the ball is when its in the air. He can back pedal, plant and explode out of his break to make the play. In run support, he knows how to fight off blocks while turning the play inside. Has good field intelligence.
Avyon graham Avyon graham 6’0″ | 225 lbs | LB West Haven Ct. | 2024 State New E His first highlight clip caught my attention with his ability to stand up a lead blocker in the gap, get off the block, while continuing to drive the ball carrier backwards and move the pile. He attacks downhill without hesitation. He easily gets off blockers using a very good arm extension and still makes the play. He strikes through the body of ball carrier when tackling. He reads and reacts quickly to both run or pass. Showed very good pass coverage ability toward end of film. Solid Player.
Highlights
Damon Hibbert Damon Hibbert 5’9″ | 165 lbs | RB Taft | 2027 State New E His athletic coordination stands out. On offense he is seen playing and being productive at both wide receiver and running back. He is a fluid runner who can wiggle to find the running lanes on the perimeter. Catches the ball with secure hands. Has an effective jump cut that makes defenders miss. On defense, does a nice job coming up when needed for run support. Holds the edge and doesn’t allow ball carriers to turn the corner. Seen as a early productive versatile player on both sides of the ball who has time to continue growing and develop.
Highlights
Elia Bahuma Elia Bahuma 5’8″ | 180 lbs | RB Concord | 2024 State New E He has an noticeable burst through first level after snap of the ball. Shows very good vision when running inside iso. Has the strength and natural desire to break tackles and fight for extra yardage. Has good hands when releasing from the backfield. I like his jump cutting abilities. He can break away left or right by planting and exploding away from defenders to make them miss. His season stats along with running style, shows he has longevity and durability in his skill set.
