Continue ReadingThe DRSportz team hosted another successful seven-on-seven tournament in the state of Florida which featured talented teams from multiple regions and states such as Texas and Georgia. The showcase provides a perfect opportunity for scouts to get eyes on a lot of kids and watch them compete against high-skill level prospects from different areas. It’s what separates most from those who can handle the moment. For today, various teams met to compete in Davenport where recruits had the chance to showcase their skillsets during the offseason. Prep Redzone scout Andrew Johnson was in attendance to take in all the action. Here is a short list of some of the many quarterback standouts from throughout the tournament.
Shamar Rigby Shamar Rigby 6'4" | 170 lbs | WR St. Petersburg Lakewood | 2024 State FL | 2024 | Lakewood | @Shamarrigby1
6’5, 170-pounds
Rigby is a rising prospect that Power Five college coaches need to become familiar with quickly. He has a long frame at 6-foot-5 height and knows how to use it on the gridiron. Has a lengthy arm span that helps the athletic outside receiver dominate most defensive backs. Rigby balled out for Ri5e Maroon throughout the tournament and his rising recruitment will be something to watch.
Jamar Taylor Jr Jamar Taylor Jr 6'1" | 205 lbs | WR Lakeland | 2024 FL | 2024 | Lakeland | @JamarTaylorJr1
6’2, 190-pounds
Taylor has looked impressive at each offseason event he’s attended so far, drastically rising his stock. The 6’2, 190-pound athlete has extremely reliable hands and shifty route running abilities. He should continue to develop and so should his recruiting process.
Vernell Brown III | 2025 | Wildwood | @VB3_9
5’9, 160-pounds
Brown was one of the more explosive and sure-handed receivers during the tournament which helped Prime Truth take home the 18U championship trophy. He was simply unguardable and gave defenses trouble. So much so that his jersey was ripped on both sides before the final game which gave off a cape appearance. He surely brought his superhero-like skills and impressed various scouts.
Zy’marrion “Nook” Long | 2024 | Palmetto | @Nook1k1
6’3, 170-pounds
This kid is Division I ready right now. Has the measurables and speed to blow almost any high school-level defense off the top. He’s extremely fluid in his routes and explodes off the line. The three-star Palmetto product has offers from Miami, UCF, and Cincinnati.
Zycarl Lewis Jr | 2024 | Carrollwood Day | @ZycarlLewisJr
5-10, 160-pounds
Lewis has continued to progress since last seeing him perform, earning himself the name “Waffle House” for always being open. Excels in the 7v7 environment because he’s shifty and hard to stay in front of. Holds various offers from Colorado, LSU, and Michigan.
Jamie Ffrench | 2025 | Mandarin | @jamieffrenchjr
6’1, 175-pounds
Ffrench is just class of 2025 but shined brighter than most of the competition around him. Has all the tangibles with plenty of time to develop and add weight to his frame. Has the speed to take the top off the defense or use his strong hands for contested catches. Ffrench had a toe-tap catch on championship Sunday that drew some reactions from the on watching crowd.
Nehemiah Chandler Nehemiah Chandler 6'1" | 165 lbs | DB Crawfordville Wakulla | 2024 State FL | 2024 | Munroe | @nehemiah904
6’2, 170-pounds
Chandler was one of the more exciting prospects that I watched during the tournament because of his ability to always find a way to get open. He scored on various passing routes from the short to long ball. Has really soft hands with good route-running skills and a quick release to beat most defenders off the line-a-scrimmage. Holds offers from Liberty, USF, and UCF.
Nico Weiss | 2025 | Trinity Christian | @NicoWeiss10
6’0, 177-pounds
Weiss had some of the most impressive hands during both days of the DR7 tournament. He played on both sides of the ball and really excelled on championship Sunday. Watched Weiss catch a touchdown on the offensive side and an interception return on the following defensive possession. Incredible body control in the air and surprisingly decent route-running skills and vision.
Joshua Porter | 2024 | Fort Meade | @PorterJoshuaWR2
6’0, 171-pounds
Porter is the most developed route-runner in the area hands down. Continues to impress during the offseason camp circuit. Recently earned an offer from Colorado after dominating the 863Showcase.
Notable:
TJ Moore | 2024 | Tampa Catholic | @tjmoore305

CJ Bragg CJ Bragg 5'11" | 170 lbs | ATH Cocoa | 2024 FL | 2024 | Cocoa | @CJBragg6
