Continue ReadingThe DRSportz team hosted another successful seven-on-seven tournament in the state of Florida which featured talented teams from multiple regions and states such as Texas and Georgia. The showcase provides a perfect opportunity for scouts to get eyes on a lot of kids and watch them compete against high-skill level prospects from different areas. It’s what separates most from those who can handle the moment. For today, various teams met to compete in Davenport where recruits had the chance to showcase their skillsets during the offseason. Prep Redzone scout Andrew Johnson was in attendance to take in all the action. Here is a short list of some of the many quarterback standouts from Day One of the tournament.
Nate Johnson Nate Johnson 5'11" | 170 lbs | ATH Clearwater Central Catholic | 2023 State FL III | 2023 | Clearwater Central Catholic | @shifteamnate
5’9, 165-pounds
Johnson balled throughout Day One and was my all-around MVP of the day. He played on both sides of the ball, scoring multiple touchdowns while making defenders look silly. Johnson also had an interception of the defensive side of the ball.
Jamar Taylor Jr Jamar Taylor Jr 6'1" | 205 lbs | WR Lakeland | 2024 FL | 2024 | Lakeland | @JamarTaylorJr1
6’2, 190-pounds
Taylor was again impressive against any defender who lined in front of him. He has really good route-running skills and sticky-glue hands.
CJ Bragg CJ Bragg 5'11" | 170 lbs | ATH Cocoa | 2024 FL | 2024 | Cocoa | @CJBragg6 |
5’11, 165-pounds
Bragg simply caught everything thrown his way with soft hands and shifty footwork to get open. Excited to watch Bragg perform on elimination Sunday.
Darion Jiles | 2026 | Lakeland | @DarionJiles07
5’10, 150-pounds
The young buck caught a jump ball over two defenders in the endzone and had a few of us scouts talking about the play post-game. Jiles is a developing prospect that’s just in the class of 2026 with plenty of time to add needed weight to his frame.
