These five athletes are mostly all DII players, but I think some of them are total D1 snubs. I’m higher on these guys than most, and I’m proud to announce it. Here are the five sleepers of the 2023 class!
WR | Triston Nichols Triston Nichols 6'3" | 190 lbs | WR De La Salle | 2023 State MI | SVSU Commit
A lot of people have been sleeping on Triston. Sure, he’s suffered a pretty severe injury, but I don’t think it warranted offers being pulled. There are too many things to count when it comes to what I love about Triston’s game, and I hope to see him prove the haters wrong at Saginaw Valley. He’s my highest-ranked GLIAC recruit, and heck, I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up transferring to a D1 someday.
RB | Timmy Kloska Timmy Kloska 6'0" | 220 lbs | RB Grand Rapids West Catholic | 2023 State MI | Army Commit
I have Kloska ranked higher than anyone else. Listen, I know how hard this kid works on his craft, and I know that his success isn’t isolated to this one season. I feel like he really got his name out there this season, but it wasn’t enough to earn a top-20 ranking for any other site. Kloska is simply bigger, stronger, and more fit for the college game than those ranked below him. Army fits his game well, and I expect him to mesh well with whatever new offense Army will run with their new OC.
RB | Xavior Tyus Xavior Tyus 5'7" | 170 lbs | RB Portage Northern | 2023 State MI | Wayne State Commit
I’ve always wondered why XaVior didn’t get so much attention. I mean, he finally got a bit after his incredible performance against Byron Center in the postseason, but at the end of the day, he’s a blip on the radar for most publications. What I know is that XaVior is built well for the college game, runs angry, and can take over a game. That being said, I fully expect him to start at Wayne State in a few years.
QB | Mac VandenHout Mac VandenHout 5'11" | 190 lbs | QB Rockford | 2023 State MI | Davenport Commit
I’m higher on Mac than a lot of people. Yes, he only has one season of QB under his belt, but I actually think that’s a strength of his. See, he earned the starting QB role at Rockford prior to his senior season, and he surpassed every expectation I had of him. Overall he was an above-average QB under normal circumstances, but Mac can get hot like nobody else, and that’s where he truly shines. His leadership is out of this world, and the trajectory is great. I expect him to continue to develop at Davenport, and I think he’ll shine in the GLIAC.
