The month of February kicks off with National Signing Day today, and we are kicking off a brand new series based on South Carolina prospects who took part in the Carolinas Stock Up Showcase in early January. Many of these prospects are the future stars of 2025 and 2026 and we had a chance to go into the film room and look at what they bring to the field.
When you turn on the tape from Addison, the thing that stands out is he has impressive hand usage to be able to beat the offensive lineman off the ball and get in the backfield quickly. He pursues with a purpose and chases down the ball carrier if it’s a run play to limit the gain. He fits the build of a defensive end as he stands at 6’4, 210 pounds and is an excellent student with a 4.0 GPA.
Highlights
Hawkins is a speedster once he gets out in the open field. But that’s not all he can do. He can catch the ball in space on swing passes or screens and he knows what to do when he catches it – get up field. The spread offense he plays in for the Green Wave is an excellent fit for him because the offset formations they run allow him to burst and display all his speed once he finds an opening.
Highlights
Garrett is an impressive “scraper” at the linebacker position, meaning he can diagnose a stretch run play, know where it’s going and rally to make the stop. He’s too quick for opposing offensive linemen with his speed. He can also line up at defensive end and plug up the rush lanes for a running back and limit the gain.
Highlights
Marajah (pictured above) garnered All-Region honors for his play in the 2022 and it’s easy to see why on film. He has excellent quickness off the line in being able to defeat blocks. He’s twitchy and can move around for a guy his size. He has a motor that is always running. In one game last year, he came off left end, brought pressure and was able to help swipe the ball free, which resulted in a touchdown for his team.
