2024 Disruptive Linebackers to Watch

Today we are going to look at several linebackers that had strong seasons in 2022 and have the potential to improve upon those performances in 2023. All of the linebackers that we are going to look at today had strong seasons in 2022 and I look for much of the same in 2023.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='248888' first='Isaac' last='Chapman']-Linebacker-Rogers-6'0” 190-Pounds</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Rogers linebacker is a defensive prospect that attacks the offensive backfield. He does an excellent job of using his speed to get into the backfield to disrupt the opposing running attack. Meanwhile, Chapman does an impressive job of being able to put pressure on the quarterback. Chapman is a versatile prospect, having seen action on the offensive side of the ball as well as the defensive side of the ball. He also lined up on the kickoff coverage unit. Chapman is a 2024 linebacker that I expect to have a big 2023 season and he is a player to keep an eye on this offseason.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='352887' first='Derrick' last='Murdock']-Linebacker-Little Rock Mills-6'0” 200-Pounds</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In 2022, [player_tooltip player_id='352887' first='Derrick' last='Murdock'] was able to bring down the opposing quarterback on a very consistent basis. Murdock led the state in quarterback sacks last season and has the potential to rack up plenty of sacks in 2023. He does an excellent job of pressuring the quarterback and his speed is tough for opposing blockers to contain. The Little Rock Mills linebacker just has a nose for the football and is rarely caught out of position. Murdock is a prospect to watch out for this upcoming season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='280305' first='Brian' last='Huff']-Linebacker-Valley View-6'3” 210-Pounds</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Valley View linebacker is attracting plenty of attention from coaches all over the SEC. Huff is a disruptive force in both the run and passing attacks. He has impressive strength and uses it well to defeat blocks. What makes Huff extremely disruptive is his mixture of power and speed. He does a great job of keeping opposing blockers off-balance. Over the past two seasons, Huff has been a force on the defensive side of the ball and I look for that to continue in 2023. Look for his recruiting to continue to heat up over the next few months.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='260882' first='Noah' last='Janski']-Linebacker-Fayetteville-5'11” 175-Pounds</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Every season, the Fayetteville Bulldogs always have a linebacker that opens eyes. [player_tooltip player_id='260882' first='Noah' last='Janski'] has the potential to cause plenty of problems for the opposing quarterbacks this upcoming season. Janski has impressive speed and the ability to explode into the offensive backfield. He does a good job of fending off blocks. Janski is tenacious and does not give up on a play. The Bulldogs always have a scrappy defense that will force turnovers and I expect Janski to be a big part of that this upcoming season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='181497' first='Preston' last='Davis']-Linebacker-Little Rock Christian-5'11” 210-Pounds</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Over the past two seasons, [player_tooltip player_id='181497' first='Preston' last='Davis'] has been a tackling machine for Little Rock Christian. Davis plays the run and the pass with equal effectiveness. The Little Rock Christian linebacker does an excellent job of swarming to the ball carrier. Davis has impressive pass coverage skills, and he has the ability to separate the ball from the wide receiver. Meanwhile, Davis does not have any trouble of rushing the passer and disrupting the offensive backfield. Watch out for the Little Rock Christian linebacker in 2023.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='149579' first='Dax' last='Goff']-Linebacker-Booneville-6'1” 215-Pounds</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the most versatile prospects in the class of 2024 is Booneville linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='149579' first='Dax' last='Goff']. Goff has impressive speed and uses it well to get into the backfield. A facet of his game that should not be overlooked is his strength. Goff rarely comes off of the field and is a weapon the Bearcats do a great job of lining up all over the field. He defends both the run and the pass well. Goff is another linebacker that just has a nose for the football. Watch out for him in 2023 as he looks to open plenty of eyes over the next few months.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
