Some of these new additions have already committed to their respective schools, and some will be next level steals. Find out who cracked our defensive line rankings below!
Peterson was one of the most highly regarded defensive tackles across California in the 2023 class and ultimately inked to UNLV earlier in the month. He is a big bodied, well built run stuffer that has some impressive twitch and hand speed for someone his size while showing a elite first step, power rush moves and solid COD abilities when collapsing the pocket. At over 6’3″, he manages keeping his hat low and using inside placement to move blockers where he wants them to go. Due to his impressive run stuffing abilities and rare combination of twitch and size, he could see some early action for the Rebels.
Carrade is one of the most technically sound defensive lineman across Northern California and has been dominating solid competition for his entire career. He is more than qualified to enter our defensive line ranks and checks in right outside the top 50. He plays with good pad level, a strong strike while locking out blockers and violently getting off blocks while able to close quickly, track backside and flashes quick block recognition. Carrade is a very balanced player that is stout against the run while also able to rush the passer and win with speed/twitch at the POA. He signed with UC Davis during the second signing period and is a solid get for the Aggies.
The Cal Poly Signee is a elite run defender from his nose guard position and wins with leverage and lower body strength at the POA. He immediately resets the LOS with a strong punch and can quickly get off blocks without losing ground and packs a punch at contact. He is versatile along the interior defensive line and athletic enough to two-gap when needed while proving that he is a college caliber kid. Checking in just inside out top 50 defensive line rankings, he is very deserving to be added to our California rankings.
Okaka has been one of the most explosive and athletic pass rushers across Norcal for the past few seasons, and had impressive showings against top in state competition for Pitt. He is a long and well built kid that is a natural bender and wins with speed and a quick use of hands at the POA. A very high IQ kid that understands pass rush lanes, responsibilities and when to counter back inside, he flashes closing speed and backside pursuit when chasing down ball carriers. Okaka will be playing his college ball at Southern Utah and should be a multi-year starter for the Thunderbirds.
