QB Anthony Mahaffey, El Dorado HS
Mahaffey was one of the more prolific passers Northern California had to offer this season and he is a no brainer next level kid. Breaking out in his Senior season, he is a very athletic pocket passer that can fit the ball into tight windows, while showing deep ball accuracy and is consistent on intermediate throws and scans the field quickly with a high IQ. PLU and two D-II programs have already offered, and he should be off the board come next month.
QB Maddox Varella, Oak Ridge HS
Varella can rip it all over the field it has been one of the better quarterbacks across the region for the last two seasons. He’s very athletic in the pocket and can take off while showing open field speed and good change of direction to make defenders miss with his legs. In the pocket, he feels pressure well and is not afraid to step up and take a hit. He excels at throwing on the run across his body and puts good zip on it to fit the ball into tight windows. In his motion, he shows a quick release and can make off platform throws look easy. A very athletic quarterback with a big time arm and accuracy, he will be a steal for a college program. Currently Eastern Washington and Southern Oregon have already offered.
QB Jett Harris, Dixon HS
Harris is another player that impressed on the camp scene last off-season and can spin it while putting together a very nice final season for the Rams. He has a quick release and throws a nice deep ball allowing his receivers to run underneath it while throwing them open and able to be accurate outside the hashes and when throwing on the run. Harris is not afraid to step up and take a hit to deliver downfield, and scans the field quickly, moving safeties with his eyes while staying patient in order to throw in the right window. Like most quarterbacks in this group, he has good feet in the pocket and moves quickly with good body control and composure.
QB Joey Roberts, Rocklin HS
Although a bit undersized, Roberts is a tough and physical kid that is a proven winner and has done a tremendous job for the Thunder over the last two and a half seasons. He does a good job at stepping up and delivering the ball in the pocket while feeling pressure and knowing when to scramble and take off while keeping his eyes downfield. A D-III+ kid, he has next level abilities and is one of the better quarterbacks across one of the toughest leagues in Norcal.
QB Tre Dimes, Vanden HS
The state championship winning quarterback has had a great high school career for the Vikings and holds one offer from Iowa Wesleyan. He is a big kid with a strong lower body and can do plenty of damage with his legs outside the pocket and make splash plays on the run with third level speed and open field vision. Dimes does a nice job at moving the pocket, navigating through pressure and keeping his eyes downfield while going through his progressions without forcing throws. Accurate across the middle and outside the numbers, he puts nice spin on the ball when airing it out and is always a threat to tuck it and run when plays break down.
