This will be a multi-part series in which we will dive into some of the top 2023 defensive prospects from around the region by position.
DE Diallo Washington Diallo Washington 6'3" | 220 lbs | LB Folsom | 2023 State CA , Folsom HS
Washington has been one of the premiere pass rushers across the section over the last two seasons and is a very technically sound prospect they can make a big impact at the next level and has the ideal size and frame. Washington has great length and strength at the point of attack while explosive near the line of scrimmage and very active playing against top-tier competition.
DL Akio Martinson Akio Martinson 6'2" | 285 lbs | DL Del Oro Highschool | 2023 State CA , Del Oro HS
Martinson is a top interior defensive lineman across Northern California and is very athletic for his size and creates immediate knock-back near the LOS while using a violent punch and power pass rush moves when collapsing the pocket. Moving very well for his size and violent at the POA, he is a no brainer FCS+ player that is still weighing his options but has FCS-DII offers.
DE Conner Dasmann, Oak Ridge HS
Dasmann is one of the better pass rushers across Norcal and although undersized, is a true technician in the trenches with natural bend, first step explosion and quick hands to beat bigger tackles. Dominating the SFL for the last two seasons and a very high motor kid, he is a no brainer D-III+ player that will only improve as he packs on weight and adds to his frame.
DL Samuel Hutchinson, Vista Del Lago HS
Hutchinson has a few D-II and D-III offers and could find himself pulling a late FCS offer as well as we go down the stretch. He has a quick first step with nice initial twitch and bend off the edge, quickly getting his hands on tackles and able to plant/redirect and shows plus COD. Strong at the POA with leverage and active hands against the run, he has terrific technique and can play a variety of positions at the next level due to his size, speed and pass rush abilities.
DE Charles Parker, Rosemont HS
Parker is a very balanced defensive end/tackle that excels against the run and offers both speed and power pass rush abilities from his defensive end position. Not carrying any bad weight and very strong at the POA with a low hat, he is a high motor kid that gets off blocks quickly, locks out blockers and can pursue backside while showing quick block recognition and is a high IQ player. He can play anywhere from 3-6 tech along the defensive line and depending on the system, offers nice versatility.
