Tyler Ohlmeyer- Linebacker South County- Notching nearly 100 solo tackles on the year, Ohlmeyer strikes fears into his opponents. A rangy sideline to sideline menace the first team All-District Linebacker can be spotted all over the field. Listed at 6’1 200 lbs. this young man has done it all defensively, look for him to start getting major FCS looks this offseason. He also has been clocked in 4.8 40 and you can see by his film he plays with great speed and intelligence.
Tommy Martz- RB/DB South County– A quick one cut back for the potent Stallions offense, Martz also shines as a defensive back. The way he comes up and tackles and finds the football he is exactly what you are looking for in a Corner. Watch his highlight tape Martz is a mixture of Asante Samuel’s ball skills and Antoine Winfield’s crisp tackling. At 5’8 165 lbs. the Stallions have another playmaker on the defensive side of the football that teams may want to avoid.
Thembe Chika- WR/DB Woodson- Chika is a tough slot receiver type that always seems to get a release off the ball before his defender can jam him. The Cavaliers love to get him involved with screen passes so he can show off his speed and quick hands. I would expect his production to double this season as he returns from injury. Standing at 5’10 and 170 lbs. Chika is very physical off the line of scrimmage and has been clocked at a 4.64 40 unofficially.
Drew Taylor- OLB Fairfax- Coming off a historic season for the Lions, Fairfax does return some key playmakers and Drew Taylor is certainly one of them. Close to 6’3 and 200 lbs. Taylor is a defensive coordinators dream, making plays in both the run and passing game. If you can pick any game of his to review, check out his closing speed in the Region Championship, this guy is a force. While his former teammate Rojas heads off to Penn State, expect many FCS schools to come looking his way soon.
Cameron Love- WR/DB Fairfax- Speaking of returning Lions, Cameron Love is another one we certainly cannot forget. While he flourished this past year as a Free Safety for Fairfax, his services may be needed more as a receiver for 2023 with the loss of Tony Rojas Tony Rojas 6'3" | 205 lbs | WR Fairfax | 2023 State VA production. Regardless of where they line him up the young man has a nose for the football and is a consistent playmaker. Love is a big strong target at 6’4 180 lbs., watching his tape he seems to prefer hitting people defensively as opposed to running them over on offense. Should be interesting to see how the Lions use him this year, regardless the teenager has it all.
Mason Hooper- WR West Potomac- Listed at 6’2, Hooper is a lengthy receiver with good speed that specializes in yards after the catch. Watching his highlights West Potomac loves to hit him on receiver screens where he can use his speed as a major weapon. I would anticipate the Wolverines to use Hooper’s skill set more for the upcoming 2023 season as he is special weapon with the football in his hands. If you do not believe me, watch his game against Mount Vernon, West Potomac used him in several different routes and he rewarded them on numerous occasions.
Idrissa Kamara- DT West Potomac- One of the league leaders in in tackles for losses, Kamara is a force to be reckon with for any offensive lineman. Notching All Patriot Second Team all-district honors the Wolverines line Kamara up everywhere on the defensive line. Standing at a little over 6 feet and 245 lbs. Kamara has a tremendous first step and if you don’t engage him blocking wise immediately he will make you pay.
Kade Moreland- DT Robinson- A stout quick defensive tackle who has a tremendous first step, sign me up. Moreland wreaked havoc all season upfront for the Rams, his explosion and low stance coming off the ball are what stands out the most. Running a sub 5.0 forty will only help improve the opportunities he receives next season. This First Team All District star is 6’0 weighing in at 245 lbs. and when you watch his tape it is all muscle.
