With only 1 team posting a below .500 record (Woodson) the Patriot League 6C division was as good as it gets for 2022. Gone are the likes of Tony Rojas Tony Rojas 6'3" | 205 lbs | WR Fairfax | 2023 State VA , Camron Riley, and Emmanuel Asante and in are crop of rising Seniors set to put their names in the record books. In no order here are 25 Rising Juniors for the Patriot League.
Jordan Dennis Jordan Dennis 5'9" | 165 lbs | QB South County | 2024 State VA – Quarterback South County- Dennis returns for his senior season to lead what was already one of the best offenses in the state for the South County Stallions. Tallying nearly 70 touchdown passes in his career, this kid has done it all. The fourth ranked quarterback for Virginia has revenge on his mind after his squad’s upset loss to Fairfax last season.
Aidan Dash- Quarterback Woodson- While Woodson may have had their struggles this season, you certainly cannot fault their quarterback play. Dash is a dual threat quarterback who is very accurate throwing on the run. Having his top two targets from last year returning, expect the Cavaliers offense to take flight. While he is listed at 5’7 and 175 lbs. soaking wet, the Woodson signal caller will make anyone silly who underestimates him.
Kai Sanchez- Wide Receiver Woodson- The Leading receiver for the Cavaliers from 2022, returns in hopes of providing more opportunities for his Quarterback Aidan Dash. Sanchez is a receiver that has speed and strength giving his opponents many sleepless nights. A very instinctive route runner, Woodson will be looking to target him more for 2023. Watching the 6’2 175 lb. receiver go over the middle early and often, you can see why the hype is real for this young man.
Devante Rudolph- Wide Receiver/Defensive Back West Springfield- A quick lengthy target as a receiver, Rudolph dabbles as a ball hawking defensive back on the other side of the field. Blessed with a great vertical and excellent first step, he is one of many reasons why the Spartans expect to compete for District title in 2023.
Christian Porter- Quarterback Lake Braddock- Appearing in 5 games last season, Porter will take over for Delaware Blue Hens Commit and All District selection Daniel Lipovski Daniel Lipovski 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB Lake Braddock | 2023 State VA . Stepping in throughout different times for the Bruins this past year, Porter was mistake and turnover free every time he handled the QB duties. Being the full time start this year should only inflate those numbers in hopes of him leading Lake Braddock back to the playoffs.
Benjamin York- Tackle Lake Braddock- A physical downright mean offensive tackle, York fits that mold and then some. The bruising right tackle for Lake Braddock takes pride in finishing his pancake blocks, standing at 6’5 and close to 300 lbs., do not be surprised if the interest for this young man increases as the off-season is underway.
Ryan Matheny- WR/DB Lake Braddock- Matheny is a physical hybrid Linebacker/safety who can cover anyone in the open field. He stands at 6’0 even at weighing in at 195 lbs. Matheny will take any player on in coverage. One of the Bruins leading tacklers from a year ago, do not be surprised if he leads the entire Patriot District in both tackles and interceptions for 2023.
Gavin Frederick- Athlete South County- When I first watched Frederick’s highlight tape, I learned quickly why he list his position as an Athlete. Listed at 6’2 and 180 lbs, this playmaker is all over the field literally! The Stallions line Frederick up everywhere, from tackles for losses to back breaking interceptions the kid does it all.
