Many schools have started to shift their attention to the 2024 class and trying to get an early jump on the junior talent.
Here are a few 2024 prospects with a ton of potential and that should be making recruiting waves soon.
Sebastien Boyle Sebastien Boyle 5'11" | 210 lbs | RB Scottsbluff | 2024 State NE | RB | Scottsbluff | 6’0″ 215 lbs
As if the trip out to Scottsbluff wasn’t rough enough, the big, bruising back Sebastien Boyle Sebastien Boyle 5'11" | 210 lbs | RB Scottsbluff | 2024 State NE awaits you on the gridiron. Boyle is a player that had a major breakout season during his sophomore campaign and continued that dominance into 2022. As a junior, Sebastien rushed for 1,926 rushing yards with 26 rushing touchdowns while averaging 177 yards per game and 8.4 yards a carry. Boyle is an incredibly physical back that uses his 215-pound frame to punish defenders. He has a strong lower body that keeps his legs pumping through attempted tackles with a powerful upper body to deliver some mean stiff arms. Even though he gets the label of “power back,” Sebastien makes weaving in and out of traffic seem effortless. He explodes through the second and third levels and can hit another gear when he sees the open field. Sebastien is a player that is sure to draw lots of D1 attention this spring.
Carter Janssen Carter Janssen 6'1" | 170 lbs | QB Norfolk Catholic | 2024 State NE | QB | Norfolk Catholic | 6’1″ 170 lbs
Norfolk Catholic QB Carter Janssen Carter Janssen 6'1" | 170 lbs | QB Norfolk Catholic | 2024 State NE gets a little lost in a deep 2024 QB class despite two championship appearances and winning the C2 title this year. Carter is a great athlete with a live arm and is dangerous with his legs too. Janssen first caught my attention at last year’s Stock Up showcase when he lit up the 40 with a 4.5 and a great showing in passing drills. I couldn’t find official stats for Carter, but one thing he does very well is he protects the ball and is an accurate passer. He can buy time for his receivers with his legs and pocket mobility while keeping his eyes upfield looking for his receivers. Very interesting QB prospect from a rich, championship-winning program… DON’T miss out!
Deandre Harper Deandre Harper 6'6" | 280 lbs | OL Omaha North | 2024 State NE | OL | Omaha North | 6’6″ 290 lbs
Here’s a player that is bound to make a splash this offseason. DeAndre is a monster guard for the North Vikings and will be part of an experienced OL unit in 2023. Harper is a beast at 6’6″ and 290 pounds, but what makes him stand out is how quick he is for his size. He is very nimble on his feet and moves well on pulling plays and when working his way up to the second level to seal off linebackers. DeAndre is very physical with his blocks and can be seen playing all the way through the whistle on every play. He also has the length you like to see on linemen, helping him get his hands on pesky speed rushers. Keep an eye out for this one!
Zander Reuling Zander Reuling 5'10" | 165 lbs | WR Kearney | 2024 State NE | ATH | Kearney | 5’10” 175 lbs
Zander was a swiss army knife-type player for the Kearney Bearcats, handling duties in all three phases. On offense, Reuling was the leading receiver with 643 yards on 37 receptions and scored eight receiving touchdowns. He’s a crafty receiver that does a great job exposing the middle of the field. One thing that makes Zander so hard to plan against is the many creative ways he lines up in the Bearcat offense. He mainly operates as an inside receiver but has also been seen coming out of the backfield. One of Reuling’s best attributes is his speed. Zander runs his routes at full speed, which allows him to create separation, and then he does a great job accelerating after the catch to tack on some extra yardage. Reuling also added 211 punt return yards, a punt return touchdown as a returner and 27 tackles, a tackle for loss, and an interception on defense. Expect lots of production from Reuling in 2023.
Jordan Barrientos Jordan Barrientos 5'8" | 175 lbs | RB Papillion-La Vista | 2024 State NE | RB/ATH | Papillion-La Vista | 5’8″ 175 lbs
The Monarchs have one of the more dangerous 1-2 punches in their backfield going into 2023. Jordan Barrientos Jordan Barrientos 5'8" | 175 lbs | RB Papillion-La Vista | 2024 State NE is the more versatile of the two backs with his ability as a receiving back. Jordan rushed the ball 91 times for 513 yards with three rushing touchdowns and hauled in 11 receptions for 185 yards (23 yards a reception) and a touchdown. What stands out the most about Jordan is his twitch and how shifty he is with his feet. He combines his elusiveness with great vision and explosiveness through his cuts. Barrientos is especially dangerous in the open field where he did lots of damage on screens and as a return man. He has great hands and can help move the chains on the ground or as a receiver. I’m expecting Jordan to have a huge year in 2023.
