Tablit was expected to be a defensive back but ended up going with the running backs during individual drills. He is a bowling ball on film who drives his feet through contact and is hard to bring down. He was the fastest in the 40 with a 4.53 and had the longest long jump for the running backs. Tablit showed off his speed in 1-on-1s and created separation against most of the linebackers.
Autry was a very close second for MVP of the running backs. He ran a 4.61 in the 40 and a 4.65 shuttle. He changes directions very quickly and the running backs coach on hand was raving about him. He made the best contested catch for a running back at the event. He is the top sophomore running back in San Diego and it’s easy to see why.
Highlights
Travis did just about everything well at the event. He was top three for the running backs in all the speed testing and had the fastest shuttle at 4.4. He has lost some body fat since I saw him in the fall. On film, he makes one cut and goes and is a downhill runner. Tesoro doesn’t use him in the passing game much so I was surprised to see how effective he was in the receiving drills.
Guarascio didn’t test as well as the other running backs but was right there with everyone in the drills and 1-on-1s. As a receiving back, he creates separation with his route running and agility rather than with his speed. On film, he has great field vision and can break tackles. Guarascio is a versatile player that could be a late steal for a lower level college program.
