But the Tigers managed to make a few more pivotal plays — including a huge third-quarter takeaway — to take control of the bully-ball battle and begin putting their foot on the gas pedal toward a 35-13 victory.
The title marked the second in three years for Many, amid a run of four straight appearances in the season’s final contest.
Tackett Curtis Tackett Curtis 6'2" | 210 lbs | LB Many | 2023 State LA (6-2, 220 DB/LB/ATH | 2023)
The USC commitment put on an absolute show on his 80-yard touchdown run to start the game as he slipped through defenders, cut up field, overpowered another attempted tackle, spun, kept his balance and began accelerating away for the long score. Many’s Outstanding Player tallied 99 yards on seven carries on offense and racked up seven tackles, tied for the team-high, on defense. The four-year standout finished his senior season with 1,115 yards and 14 touchdowns rushing, four punt return touchdowns, four interceptions and 112 tackles, including six sacks and 16 for loss.
Tylen Singleton Tylen Singleton 6'1" | 210 lbs | DB Many | 2024 State LA (6-2, 180 DB | 2024)
Several 2024 standouts showed that their departing senior teammates will be be leaving the Tigers in great hands. And the most well-known of the bunch, Singleton, showed why he is already considered among the nation’s top prospects in the class. His development — both physically and in his feel for the game — from his pick-six and Outstanding Player honors in the 2020 title game are consistently impressive. Singleton finished the 2022 game with a team-high seven tackles, including a long chase-down of Holly to save a touchdown, and snatched away a fumble early in the third quarter that set up a Many touchdown and broke the game open. During his junior season, Singleton totaled 78 tackles, including two sacks and nine for loss, and snatched three interceptions.
Jeremiah James Jeremiah James 5'10" | 170 lbs | RB Many | 2024 State LA (5-10, 170 RB | 2024)
Another junior standout ended up leading the Tigers in rushing with a dominant fourth quarter to help seal away the victory. James carried 17 times for 140 yards and a pair of second-half scores, including six categories in the final period for 88 yards and a 51-yard exclamation-mark touchdown. He also caught a 9-yard pass. The performance served as a breakout for the underrated young back and passing of the baton from Curtis and senior running back Trenton Williams, who finished with 107 yards and a touchdown on 16 attempts.
Joseph Cryer Joseph Cryer 6'4" | 290 lbs | OL Natchitoches Central | 2024 State LA (6-4, 295 OL | 2024)
Whether Curtis, Williams or James was carrying the ball, the Many offensive line was explosive paving lanes up and down the field and into the end zones. And Cryer, who began blowing up on the recruiting trail during 2022, was as impressive as anyone mauling straight forward and pushing defenders several yards backward or showing his agility at his size pulling across the line, quickly find his target and help clear the lane there.
Trey Holly Trey Holly 5'8" | 190 lbs | RB Union Parish | 2023 State LA (5-8, 190 RB | 2023)
The LSU commit racked up a ridiculous 110 yards on seven carries in the first quarter, including a 63-yard dash to answer the long Curtis run and knot the score again at 7-7. By comparison, the rest of the Union Parish team and Many combined for 135 yards total in that span. Holly’s explosiveness and open-field speed were on full display, and the matchup seemed poised to be a back-and-forth duel between the Power 5-bound seniors. He only received four handoffs the rest of the way, though, and finished with 115 yards on 11 attempts. He added two catches in the backfield for 23 yards from scrimmage. On defense, he added three tackles, including one for loss, and a pass breakup, and he punted four times for 130 yards.
Holly finished his senior season with 2,694 yards and 38 touchdowns on 305 carries — an average of 8.8 yards per attempt — to bring his five-year totals to 10,523 yards and 146 scores on the ground alone. He racked up more than 12,600 all-purpose yards and 160 scores in all during his decorated prep career.
Cam Hill Cam Hill 6'3" | 175 lbs | DB Union Parish | 2023 State LA (6-3, 195 DB | 2023)
Another college-bound standout, the Louisiana Tech-committed safety, tied for the game-high with eight tackles, including seven solo stops and one for a 7-yard loss. The fast and physical athlete has always excelled making plays in the box and has continued to work on his cover skills in preparation for college. Hill finished the season with 92 tackles, three interceptions and two forced fumbles.
Tyquereis Wilson (5-11, 170 DL/ATH | 2025)
The all-district defensive MVP and all-state defensive end matched Hill’s eight tackles, seven solo and one for loss and also forced a fumble which fellow all-district standout D’Antwone Hopkins recovered. The Farmers reported Wilson finished his senior season with 185 tackles, including 29 for loss and 11.5 sacks, with four forced fumbles, four recoveries and a blocked punt.
