Gamechangers: PRZ Stock Up Showcase Texas Defensive MVPs

Gamechangers can turn the tide in a game defensively, by making a game altering interception, delivering a bone jarring hit or the defense can come through with a drive killing sack. Today’s defenses are loaded with players who can can play fast, who are some of the best athletes on the field and guys who can change the game plan for any offense. Here are the Gamechangers defensively, who had MVP performances at the PRZ Stock Up Texas Showcase.

Voss plays a physical game, he get hands on his opponents at the line of scrimmage and he has a non-stop motor that makes him a menace in press coverage. He has an extended wing span, which enables him to redirect wide receivers off of their axis at the point of attack. During the one on one period versus the wideouts, Voss got physical early, using his length and power to shut down any release his opponents had off the line of scrimmage. Jacob has fluid hips, he gets into his backpedal smoothly without false steps and his ability to change direction quickly enables him to be in position to make plays on the football routinely. Voss plays free safety for Brandeis High School in San Antonio and shows off his ballhawk skill set on Friday nights. He is coming off of a 2022 season, where he totaled 72 tackles, 10 PBUs, he was selected 1st team all-district 28-6A and led the district in interceptions. He is a sure tackler in the open field, he uses excellent leverage and his closing speed allows him to shut down runners. Voss has the attributes that Gamechangers possess and his MVP performance shows that his stock is shooting up rapidly.
Yahir Lamas | Class of 2023 | Prosser(WA) | 5’11 215 | Defensive Line
Lamas has a stout build with wide shoulders and a strong lower trunk. During the combine portion of camp, Lamas excelled during the L-drill, displaying the ability to accelerate, stop, cut and change directions quickly. Lamas has nimble feet, he showed excellent high knee action through the bag drills and he moved with a purpose during the ladder drills. As camp transitioned into the one on one drills, Lamas began to assert himself early on. Yahir has a quick first step, he has excellent burst, he plays with good leverage, using his low center of gravity to his advantage and he has a powerful punch when he engages at the point of attack. Lamas has violent hands and he plays with a non stop motor. He fits the mold of the run stuffing three-technique, who can also rush the passer. Lamas has the attributes that Gamechangers exhibit.

Carr has a long, lean, athletic build, with broad shoulders and he has a strong, stout lower half. During the combine drills, Carr showed off his nimble feet, he has the ability to change direction quickly and he displayed excellent burst during the L-drill. His footwork during the agility drills was clean, he was able to flip his hips well and his backpedal was smooth. During the one on one drills versus the running backs, Carr played with sound technique, he used good leverage keeping his shoulders square during the pursuit and angle tackling drills and he displayed good eye discipline by not over running the play and taking the proper angles in pursuit of the ball carrier. He was relentless in the pass rushing session versus the running backs, showing the skills to rush under control, he has a violent first step and he uses his extended arm length to keep blockers from getting into his chest. After reviewing film of his fall 2022 season, Carr showed that he has the attributes that coaches covet in linebackers. He reads and diagnoses plays quickly, he has the speed to close down on the ball carrier while staying under control and he has some thump in his game as a tackler. Carr has plenty of Gamechanger type juice in his game and left no doubt that his stock will continue to rise.
