Looking back at the DMV's top performing defensive players from the 2022 season.

2023 6'4 240 DL/LB - [player_tooltip player_id='146636' first='David' last='Ojiegbe'] - St. John's - Clemson

The 4 star Clemson commit and Maxpreps.com D.C. player of the year, [player_tooltip player_id='146636' first='David' last='Ojiegbe'], absolutely dominated on defense this Fall for the Cadets. Ojiegbe recorded more than 15 sacks and 30 tackles for a loss, proving that he absolutely finished the season as one of the top defensive players in the DMV. There's no doubt in my mind that [player_tooltip player_id='146636' first='David' last='Ojiegbe'] will have a phenomenal career at Clemson, and Tiger nation should by psyched to commit such a talented defensive recruit. I wouldn't be surprised at all is Ojiegbe got some legitimate playing time for Clemson within his first two years. He's next level talented already!

Highlights: https://www.maxpreps.com/local/career/videos.aspx?careerid=d153075e-eb75-4db1-9010-3d7e418cf300&videoid=f3690e33-d3f9-4275-b07c-b108cd642cf0

2023 6'2 260 DL - Sam Greene - St. Frances Academy - USC

There were few defensive players as integral to St. Frances' incredible success this season than
USC commit Sam Greene. With the most difficult schedule in all of high school football, the SFA Panthers achieved a spectacular 9-1 record this season, and Sam Greene and the Panther defense had a lot to do with that achievement. USC was atrocious on defense this season, so the arrival of elite young defensive talent like Sam Greene next Fall will go a long way for the Trojans. Greene could absolutely make an impact for them immediately, and there's no question that he will flourish during his time in Southern California. Greene was particularly dominant in big primetime games this season, and his phenomenal highlight tape below captures his dominance on film perfectly!

Highlights: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/16519249/633adac97bd2b70c74447f51

2023 6'5 250 DL - [player_tooltip player_id='90643' first='Dashawn' last='Womack'] - St. Frances Academy - LSU

Five star recruit and All-American defensive end, [player_tooltip player_id='90643' first='Dashawn' last='Womack'], is headed to the Bayou of Louisiana State, and it's safe to say that he's more than ready for the speed and physicality at the next level. While SEC football is the best of the best, so is [player_tooltip player_id='90643' first='Dashawn' last='Womack'], and I think that he more than displayed his next level readiness in 2022. When you finish your Senior season with as many tackles and forced turnovers against elite competition as [player_tooltip player_id='90643' first='Dashawn' last='Womack'] did, then it's only logical that a big time power five conference program is the next step for you. LSU nation should be ecstatic for [player_tooltip player_id='90643' first='Dashawn' last='Womack']'s commitment!

Highlights: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/12859447/6339114f64deeb0e64ec2f70

2023 6'0 190 DB - Kameron Howard - St. Frances Academy - UNCC

Kameron Howard had a breakout season in his final year with St. Frances Academy. He was an interception machine, and he was a key player for the Panthers in the defensive secondary. His vision and leadership helped to clinch victory after victory for SFA in 2022, and Howard constantly delivered in the clutch during primetime games. The UNC Charlotte commit will be lockdown for the 49ers, and I wouldn't be shocked at all if he plays immediately and dominates as a Freshman. Kameron Howard is a very skilled defensive back with a high ceiling, and he's going to have a very big role on defense right away for UNCC.

Highlights: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/14911068/63189bd84210a60a1c7d4d2b

2023 5'11 210 LB - Luke Hackett - DeMatha

Luke Hackett, the 1st Team All-WCAC and All-Met honorable mention linebacker, absolutely deserves a shot at the D1 level. Any program that signs him will be getting the hardest worker in the room, and somebody who never quits, especially on the football field. Hackett leads by example, and he did just that throughout his sublime career with the DeMatha Stags. He earned Freshman All-American honors his first season, therefore it's only fitting that he add even more prestigious accolades to his resume in his final season. Luke Hackett is the epitome of a football player, and it really is difficult to put his contributions to this football team into words. I have a feeling that Luke Hackett will get his chance at the next level, and, if he does, I promise you that he will be a shining star.

Highlights: https://t.co/bXzoDPB9dE
