On January 14th, 2023 I attended the Prep Redzone Showcase in Austin, TX. There were a ton of standout athletes from all over Texas on both offense and defense. In this article, I will be covering the defensive standouts at the Prep Redzone Showcase.
#64 Louis D. Brandeis High School Jacob Voss Jacob Voss 6'1" | 190 lbs | DB Louis D. Brandeis | 2024 State TX Jr DB 6’1 175 lbs
The most aggressive athlete at the Austin Prep Redzone showcase was a defensive back, Jacob Voss Jacob Voss 6'1" | 190 lbs | DB Louis D. Brandeis | 2024 State TX . I noticed Jacob from the start with his great testing scores and running drills in his position. Jacob’s skills as a defensive back kept his hips aligned, great footwork, and an aggressive play style he was able to provide lockdown defense. During the 1v1 portion not a single wide receiver could get past Jacob the whole time. Jacob at the end of the showcase was called to go 1v1 in front of everyone and stopped the wide receiver short not allowing him any yards. All of this resulted in Jacob Voss Jacob Voss 6'1" | 190 lbs | DB Louis D. Brandeis | 2024 State TX receiving the MVP award for defensive backs.

John Carr traveled a good distance to Austin to represent Houston in this showcase. For John to be only a sophomore and little experience playing high-level football he felt like a natural. John has ideal size great height and a solid build allowing him to use his natural athleticism. John used his athleticism to dominate as a linebacker during the 1v1 portion the running backs could not get past him. John Carr’s phenomenal performance awarded him the MVP award for linebackers.

Caiden Robinson Caiden Robinson 6'0" Victoria East | 2025 TX is an aggressive defensive end. Caiden has strength, speed, and quickness making him an extreme threat off the ball. During the individual position portion, I saw Caiden display major defensive linemen skills with his great footwork and quick hands. Caiden also used his quickness and speed to get past the offensive linemen into the backfield during the 1v1 portion. Caiden Robinson Caiden Robinson 6'0" Victoria East | 2025 TX will be a top college prospect in the next couple of years when he gains more experience in varsity football.

Bryce Adeokun Bryce Adeokun 6'1" Klein Collins | 2023 TX is a solid and commendable defense end. Bryce might not be one of the biggest linemen, but he makes up for it with his quickness and technique. From the start of the showcase, Bryce had impeccable form in the testing portion which allowed him to fully utilize his athleticism. I didn’t get a great chance to see Bryce during the 1v1 portion, but I have seen him play before and he is a threat on the defensive line with his quickness and power.
