Coaches are doing a great job of coaching up tough, athletic, and physical offensive linemen. I enjoyed watching all these guys tape and now am even more aware of how much their play helps their team’s offenses. These are some of the top offensive linemen in the state and their run-blocking ability is exceptional.
#54 Andrew Dennis Andrew Dennis 6'5" | 285 lbs | OL Mount Pleasant | 2024 State MI | Mount Pleasant | Hudl
Dennis does a very good job of firing off the ball and driving right into defenders. He does a great job of staying in a low athletic position where he can use all his strength to drive defenders out of the play. Dennis showed off his athleticism in his ability to block defenders in the open field on running-back screens. I like that the Mount Pleasant coaching staff will move him to the tackle position and run pitch plays to his side to utilize his ability to seal off the edge. Dennis has no problem getting to the second level and blocking linebackers and defensive backs.
#53 Ryan Ross Ryan Ross 6'3" | 310 lbs | OL De La Salle Collegiate | 2024 State MI | Warren De La Salle Collegiate | Hudl
Ross does a great job of using his strength to control blockers and drive them away from the play to create huge openings for ball carriers to run through. Ross is very good at pulling and finding a defender to block out of the play. He will finish blocks and keep driving his feet until the whistle is blown. Ross is very good at sustaining run blocks and defenders have a very difficult time getting off him. I like Ross’s game a lot and he will certainly be a key piece to the De La Salle offense next season.
#74 Seth Anstead Seth Anstead 6'4" | 290 lbs | OL Chelsea | 2024 State MI | Chelsea | Hudl
Anstead has been one of the best players I have got to watch in person over the past couple of seasons. He is a very competitive player and is a guy who will compete for the entire game regardless of the score. Anstead has no fear when it comes to delivering a huge hit on a play where he is pulling. His strength and power overwhelm defenders and knock them back on initial contact. He is a very good athlete who has the versatility to play any position on the offensive line. He has very strong hands and does a great job of using them to keep defenders from getting around him.
#72 Marice Johnson Marice Johnson 6'6" | 325 lbs | OL Belleville | 2024 State MI | Belleville | Hudl
Johnson has a very good size at 6-6, 325 lbs. He does a great job of using size and strength when executing down blocks. Johnson does have the athletic ability to block linebackers and defensive backs in the open field. Johnson’s game is smooth and can make blocks look effortlessly. Johnson does not shy away from contact and does a great job of hitting defenders with a good initial impact. Johnson played a key part in Belleville’s run to a state title and will be once again in 2023.
