However, there are some talented guys in this class who haven’t been mentioned enough. It’s easy to know who the guys are getting recognition. I love finding the talented guys nobody is talking about yet.
Jaeden Callender, Brandon
This guy is very quick when he comes off the line. He isn’t the tallest defensive lineman, but he plays the game with a lot of grit. He knows how to use his hands to fight off defenders. Callender played for a state championship this past fall. His team came up short. That will be on his mind a lot as he prepares for the next season.
Michael Smith, Picayune HS
Smith has a very long wingspan and that helps him shed blockers. A lot of people don’t get a chance to shine on their defense due to so many guys being able to make plays. Smith finds his way to fit into that playmaking train. He was a big time help during the Maroon Tide championship run. I think we can keep our ears open for his name to be called a lot more next season.
Lionel Williams Lionel Williams 6'3" | 205 lbs | LB Hazelhurst | 2024 State MS , Hazlehurst
This kid has a very quick release when the ball is snapped. I love the way he explodes. Williams plays his position very well. He knows how to use his hands, and he doesn’t get lost with plays going away from him. He is very disciplined when he steps on the football field. Williams knows how to make good solid tackles. Those are a lot of good traits to have. He also has some very good size. Williams could possibly see himself taking our soon.
Jabari McWilliams Jabari McWilliams 6'1" | 245 lbs | DL Picayune | 2024 State MS , Picayune
McWilliams is a load on that Maroon Tide defense. He made his presence be known all season. There aren’t a lot of people who can block McWilliams. He is a guy that you don’t want in your way every play. He slangs offensive lineman around with ease. That’s the kind of defensive lineman you want to see. McWilliams doesn’t have a lot of offers. Expect that to change during the off-season going into next year.
Kamron Beavers
Beavers is a guy I have bragged on for a long time. He has been extended two offers, one from Ole Miss and the other from Texas Tech. Beavers is a super strong guy that we all need to be talking about. I don’t say that lightly. This kid is an absolute stud on the field. I think the sky is definitely the limit for him. The more he gets his name out there the more his stock will elevate. There aren’t a lot of defensive tackles out there like Beavers.
TJ Spann, Clinton
This is another guy that carries a heavy load. He already has an offer from Marshall. Spann is a run game specialist. He is a guy that you can put at nose guard and just let him do him. He is a very big load in the middle. Spann gets to the backfield whenever he wants. He is a guy that needs to be talked more.
Cameron Sandifer, Hazlehurst
This is another guy who impressed me with his film. He also gets off the line very fast. He could definitely develop into a good defensive lineman in college football. Sandifer has the length, and he loves to use his hands. Whenever I see a defensive lineman good with their hands I it shows their athleticism. Sandifer plays the game with a very high motor, and he is always in the backfield. I’m very glad I came across his highlight film.
Detrick Munford Detrick Munford 6'3" | 225 lbs | DL Amanda Elzy | 2024 State MS , Amanda Elzy
Munford is another defensive lineman that plays with a very high motor. He also has a lot of length. That shows he has some room to gain a lot of weight. He has some good speed, and knows how to get around in the trenches. He is a sack specialist. Last season he had 11 sacks. He does not mind giving quarterbacks long nights.
Alex Foster Alex Foster 6'5" | 240 lbs | DL Saint Joseph Catholic | 2024 State MS , St Joe HS
Foster is very aggressive when he is playing in the trenches. That’s another thing that I love to see. It’s always fun to see a guy having his way on the defensive line. Foster is a big guy that knows how to use his size to move around on the field. He is also good with his hands. I want to see him at camps this off-season so I can get a good in-person evaluation. His film looks good.
