This offseason is a great chance for the unknown prospects to display their talent. Camps, combines, and 7v7 seasons truly help defensive backs. Let’s check out these prospects I have studied this week.
D’Andre Kirkpatrick D’Andre Kirkpatrick 5'11" | 175 lbs | DB Gadsden City | 2024 State AL , DB, Gadsden City
Kirkpatrick is a stud that knows how to handle business. He reads the field very well. I love the way he attacks the ball. When you watch his film you can tell he watches film on his opponents. I love the way he adjusts to plays. He does a good job of reading quarterbacks. He also has the hips to drop down and cover a slot receiver. Those hands become very aggressive when the ball is thrown. He does not make the wrong guess. He knows how to watch his receiver and read their eyes to know when to look up for the pass. This kid is a stud.
Cole Porter Cole Porter 6'0" | 170 lbs | DB Grissom | 2024 State AL , Grissom
I truly enjoyed watching Porter’s film. This kid knows how to get it done when he plays his position. Porter has some good length and long arms. He knows how to read receivers. He also is a big threat to take interceptions back to the house. Porter also is very athletic. He can make quarterbacks pay. He is the type of player that will have a quarterback thinking there is a lane and then BOOM, he closes it very quick. Porter is a guy to know.
Nathan Nwagwu Nathan Nwagwu 6'2" | 165 lbs | DB McAdory | 2024 State AL , McAdory
Nwagwu is very aggressive when he is playing on the islands. He has some very good hips that help him break on passes. He also has long arms that help him get around receivers for pass breakups. Nwagwu can make the plays you need good defensive backs to make. He also doesn’t mind coming up to make tackles. His confidence level is very high as well. He plays with a high motor when he is on the field. The kind of player that gives his team a boost. I think he is a player that can make it on the division one level. Keep an eye on this kid.
Kaden Daniels, Vestavia Hills
Daniels is a dog on the football field. He breaks up a lot of passes with big hits. I loved watching his film. When he comes down to make hits he doesn’t mess around. This guy who is an old school strong safety. He even can play nickel back. He does a great job playing zone coverage. Daniels isn’t out there guessing or running too long with receivers. He sticks to his assignment when he plays his zone. Keep your ears open for his name.
