Some of these prospects have transitioned in our eyes from Division II to Division I prospects from our last update, and plenty of them didn’t have enough tape for a full evaluation last time and have proved this time around that they should be playing on Saturdays in the near future. We continue with the number six on back to back nights as we meet Part II of the Stockrisers from the 2024 December rankings update.
Jett Zabel Jett Zabel 6'4" | 210 lbs | TE Pierre | 2024 State SD , TE, Pierre T.F. Riggs (SD) 2024 Twitter & Tape
- Jett might have the safest positional rank in the 2024 class so far, in my eyes, as there are very few TEs in the Dakotas that have the 6’4 200+ pound frame that Jett possesses, and he carries all of it with his durability and balance he shows off on his junior tape.
- He brings the game-changing speed instinct when he’s in the open field and can seal off the secondary with his burst around the outside edges as we have seen the #1 Tight End in the Dakotas really develop a ton in that speed determine since the last update in the 2024 rankings.
- If you are looking for a 2024 Tight End to piece together some excellent pad-level within his blocks and drive his defender with it for 10+ yards consistently on tape, you will want your scholarship-level eyes on this kid college coaches.
- Jett moved up 22 spots to #14 and kept his positional ranking as TE1 in the Dakotas in this recent update. In my eyes, he looks like a Division I prospect with 54 receptions, 842 receiving yards, and 13 touchdowns for now six straight state 11AA champs in the Pierre Governors.
Burk Blasius Burk Blasius 6'1" | 180 lbs | QB Wall | 2024 State SD , QB, Wall (SD) 2024 Twitter & Tape
- The significant gains Burk has made from his sophomore tape to his junior tape, especially with his growing poise in the pocket, is why he’s one of the bigger stockrisers on our 2024 list
- He has also developed his mobility to stretch the field with his legs and still unload a fluid amount of arm strength even when some pressure gets thrown his way. When Burk releases to run, he shows a ton more strength and durability than he will credit for in his 6’0 175 pound frame.
- Burk has also taken it up a notch with the precision he’s grown with his intermediate and deep balls, as he gives his wide receivers as much room as he can to catch it on the run. Burk was week by week nominated for our Big Dogs of the Week series by Wall HC Lex Heathershaw as he showed off some video game stat numbers all year long. High GPA QB prospect with a 4.0.
- Burk moved up 36 spots to #50 overall and #4 amongst QBs in the 2024 class in the Dakotas for quarterbacks. He certainly looks like a scholarship-level QB to me.
Taylor Quinn Taylor Quinn 6'1" | 225 lbs | DL Sioux Falls Lincoln | 2024 State SD , DL, Sioux Falls Lincoln (SD) 2024 Twitter & Tape
- Taylor shows some much-improved junior tape to go from our 2024 Watchlist to our 2024 rankings. What pops out early on tape? His quick hands, front, and clear vision to get into the backfield showed off sound-developing skillsets from the last time we watched his tape.
- He shows off a developed stance out of the gates that shows some athleticism to allow him to dig his footwork with some mobility in some tight windows to find the ball carrier with some quicker instincts.
- Taylor also checks my box for his mobility for his size; as a 6’1 225 pound defensive tackle, I like the motor he carries even when he has to go get the ball carrier on well outside of the inside box to make a tackle
- From my eyes, his growth into his senior season could be significant with work this offseason on increasing his leverage and strength as a probable defensive end or linebacker at the next level. He moves from our watchlist to #67 in our rankings, which positions him as a prospect that should be playing on Saturdays.
Jack Stewart Jack Stewart 6'3" | 235 lbs | DL West Fargo | 2024 State ND , DL/TE, West Fargo (ND) 2024 Twitter & Tape
- Holy cow, college coaches should love the fight Jack has in his hands coming off the EDGE for the West Fargo Packers, as his aggressive swiping ability shows off tons of power in his well-built 6’3 225-pound frame.
- I also love his fight with his vision, as he has that swift pull-off versus his defender that shows off a fluid amount of athleticism, getting off quickly and finding the football, especially when he has to barrel his way into the B-gap to find the ball carrier.
- Jack also shows off a good-sized reach in his wingspan by grabbing ball carriers that might be just out of reach for those other defensive ends with less length in their arsenal.
- Jack is another defensive lineman on this list, entering the rankings at #76 overall from our 2024 watchlist. I genuinely think this young man is not done raising his stock either, as I see a big summer ahead for this young man on the prospect camp circuit as there is so much to love about his motor and physicality level he plays with on both sides of the ball.
Jovi Wolf Jovi Wolf WR Chester Area | 2024 State SD , WR/ATH, Chester Area (SD) 2024 Twitter & Tape
- If you are looking for a 2024 wide receiver on this list with a massive burst out of his route, look no further than Chester Area’s Jovi Wolf Jovi Wolf WR Chester Area | 2024 State SD .
- Not to mention when Jovi is in the slotback role, his agility in small spaces is a force to be reckoned with as his footwork is outstanding and consistently can juke defenders out of their cleats.
- Jovi shows off a sizeable catch radius to go along with that speed and agility and shows off a ton of athletic balance when the ball comes his way with his vertical.
- The versatility of this young man has some swiss army knife skillsets to it, but I think his best college football fit is at wide receiver and could be an excellent return man as well on special teams to put that speed and agility to the test. Jovi is another mover from our 2024 watchlist to our 2024 rankings, checking in at #75 overall, which yet again shows off another scholarship-level football prospect from Chester Area in this 2024 class.
Lawson Lotysz Lawson Lotysz 6'2" | 280 lbs | OL Grand Forks Red River | 2024 State ND , OL, Grand Forks Red River (ND) 2024 Twitter & Tape
- Golly, do I love the hands and leverage of Grand Forks Red River’s Lawson Lotysz Lawson Lotysz 6'2" | 280 lbs | OL Grand Forks Red River | 2024 State ND , as he has to be one of the most physical centers in all of the Dakotas 2024 class.
- I love the finesse in his footwork when he fires off the snap, as he shows off tons of reactive instincts for those pass rushers trying to shove thru his gap, and he shows off the clamping finish on the turf that I love witnessing out of the offensive line position. Lawson shows that, finishing move off consistently in his 6’3 260 pound frame.
- His pad level shows off great fluidity to either side as Lawson gravitates with smoothness with his footwork and can flip his hips in either direction with great attention to detail with a rapid punch. He can also use his pad level to drive a poor linebacker into the second level with full control and great balance.
- Lawson is another prospect on this list to me who has a Division I ceiling, especially at the FCS level. He jumped 16 spots from #32 to #16, which positions him in that Division I plethora of prospects that should have a big summer at prospect camps.
