Chuck Volans Chuck Volans 6’4″ | 250 lbs | TE CBA-Albany | 2023 State NY is one of the highest ranking newcomers in our 2023 Rankings and for good reason. The Colgate commit is not only one of the top tight ends in the class of 2023 but he was a fantastic two way player for CBA-Albany. Volans had 69 Tackles, 12 Sacks, 18 TFL, and 3 FF on the defensive side of the ball while registering 29 receptions for 566 yards and 4 touchdowns. Volans has incredible size for a tight end at 6-4, 250 pounds and is an extremely effective blocker and receiver.

Ryan Alexander Ryan Alexander 6’1″ | 205 lbs | LB Erasmus Hall | 2023 State NY is the type of well rounded linebacker that college teams are looking for. A really quick player who has effective play strength and the instincts to make a difference both stopping the run and dropping into coverage. Alexander also is a really solid blitzer and makes consistent plays around the line of scrimmage. Alexander’s quickness could be his best trait as blockers struggle to touch him at the next level. Alexander has great eyes and does a really good job of identifying running lanes and cleaning up in the backfield. The Monmouth signee capped of an incredible season by leading an Erasmus Hall defense 5 shutouts in their last 6 games.
Nikai Brown Nikai Brown 5’11” | 185 lbs | WR Canarsie | 2023 State NY is one of the most electric playmakers in New York. Brown is such a smooth athlete who has great speed and elite route running ability. Brown is a big play deep threat and showed consistently his elite ball tracking and catch radius for Canarsie. Brown also is effective after the catch and really does a good job of turning upfield and using his speed to breakaway. Brown rarely gets caught doing to many moves to try and break tackles but instead is more of a north and south player. With Browns speed and quickness he can be extremely effective from the slot but also can be a deep threat on the outside.
Logan Reaska Logan Reaska 6’5″ | 215 lbs | TE St. Francis | 2023 State NY was a do-it-all player for St. Francis. He played TE, WR, and S for one of the only teams who could give St. Anthony’s the #1 team in the state a competitive game. At 6-5 Reaska’s frame make him an elite weapon on offense. The Harvard commit has the length that defenses struggle to game plan for. He was extremely effective as a redzone target and although a little slim showed he can be an effective blocker. Reaska has one of the highest ceilings of any new addition to our 2023 Rankings.
Justin Mondesir Justin Mondesir 6’2″ | 250 lbs | DL Poly Prep | 2023 State NY capped off an incredible season with a commitment to Navy. Mondesir has elite size with a 6’7 wingspan and the ability to play defensive tackle or defensive end. He using really solid athleticism and strength to win through double teams and one on one is a mismatch due to his solid skills as a run defender and arsenal of pass rush moves. Mondesir does a really good job of keeping his eyes in the backfield while controlling offensive linemen which allows him to routinely make plays around the line of scrimmage. Mondesir is one of the most complete players from New York headed to the next level.

Zeraun Daniel Zeraun Daniel 6’1″ | 185 lbs | ATH Poly Prep | 2023 State NY is one of the best playmakers in this class, the Poly Prep receiver was a really effective deep threat and has some of the best hands of our new additions. Daniel is a really good route runner who uses precise cuts to get open. With the breakaway speed to finish big plays Daniel has a great combination of play speed and precision route running that makes him a high level player in New York. Daniel capitalized on a strong Senior Season which led to his commitment to Georgetown.
Dylan Haines Dylan Haines 6’3″ | 285 lbs | OL Harrison | 2023 State NY is not only the best lineman added to our rankings but he jumped all the way up to being one of the top lineman in the entire state. Haines played on the inside as a center and he is extremely talented at getting to the second and third level of the defense. With great strength and solid movement for an interior offensive lineman linebackers really struggle to get by Haines. Haines strong season has led to over 5 PWO’s from prominent New York/New Jersey programs.

Oumar Diomande Oumar Diomande 6’1″ | 220 lbs | LB John F. Kennedy | 2023 State NY has elite size and athleticism for the next level. The UCONN commit is one of the best coverage linebackers in this class and he does an incredible job of not biting on play action. Diomande has great instincts and eyes and lets his eyes lead him to the ball. Diomande has the closing speed to finish sideline to sideline and also the traits you want to see in order to be an effective blitzer. Diomande is a great athlete his strong senior season led to offers from Wagner and UCONN after the regular season.
Zaire Andrews Zaire Andrews 5’9″ | 200 lbs | RB Erasmus Hall | 2023 State NY was the heartbeat of the Erasmus Hall offense. Andrews is like a bowling ball bouncing off tackles and is so hard to bring down. His combination of speed, strength, and low center of gravity make him an effective runner both between the tackles and out in space. Andrews had 92 carries, 801 rushing yards (8.8ypc), 10 Total TDs. Andrews has a great stiff arm move and does a great job of keeping tacklers from reaching his body. Andrews is an addition to our rankings but also one of the best backs and uncommitted players in the state.

Matt Fitzsimons Matt Fitzsimons 6’5″ | 190 lbs | QB Somers | 2023 State NY is the best pure pocket passer in this quarterback class. In the playoffs alone, Fitzsimons had 1,202 passing yards, 24 Total TDs, on 71% completion percentage. Fitzsimons stands tall at 6-5 and has one of the best arm talents in New York. Fitzsimons strong senior season led to offers from Wesleyan, Hamilton, LIU, and Monmouth. Fitzsimons’ arm talent, pocket presence, and efficiency are elite traits and Fitzsimons is finally getting the D1 attention that his play warranted.

Logan Barnes Logan Barnes 6’0″ | 275 lbs | DL Curtis | 2023 State NY was one of the strongest defensive lineman in all of New York. Barnes has so much power and often win with his strength and a bull rush. The Monmouth commit, was a constant playmaker in the backfield. Barnes is a great block shedder and does a really good job of not letting quicker smaller backs beat him with speed or any moves in the backfield. Barnes strong senior season would have led to potentially more D1 attention if he was not committed to Monmouth who is getting one of the best DL in the state.
Dylan Harris Dylan Harris 5’11” | 210 lbs | RB William Floyd | 2023 State NY is one of the best running backs in New York, he has extremely strong and powerful base which let him break through arm tackles easily, Harris does not have elite speed but his strength and power make him a consistent threat to make big plays. Harris’ inclusion in our rankings come after two really strong years for William Floyd HS. Harris is one of the most effective power runners in New York effectively making him a top RB in the state.
Ricardo Kidd Ricardo Kidd 6’0″ | 205 lbs | RB St. Francis | 2023 State NY was the heart and soul of a really good St. Francis team. Kidd has great size, speed, and strength to be the complete playmaker at the next level. The back is great between the tackles and can really make tacklers miss in space. Kidd rarely gets brought down by just one tackler, it takes a team to get Kidd down sometimes and his physicality is a major strength in his play. Kidd also has really good patience and will wait for blocks to develop before hitting his top speed. Kidd is one of the best all around backs in NY and his elite Senior season makes him a staple name in our rankings.
Anthony DiMarco Anthony DiMarco 6’3″ | 195 lbs | WR McQuaid | 2023 State NY developed into a really dangerous outside threat from the wide receiver position for McQuaid. DiMarco’s strong senior season led to a few quick offers after the season from Monmouth, Stony Brook, and Middlebury. DiMarco has elite length and a catch radius that not many defensive backs can compete with. His ability to high point the ball and come down with contested catches makes him a really dangerous redzone threat. DiMarco also has some of the best hands in all of New York. DiMarco is also really good on broken plays often working back to the quarterback and to the sidelines showing a really solid football IQ.
Giuseppe Pennolino Giuseppe Pennolino 6’1″ | 190 lbs | LB Archbishop Stepinac | 2023 State NY was another piece of the puzzle to a stacked Archbishop Stepinac defensive unit. A defensive back at the next level Pennolino was incredible against the run and projects best as a big nickel corner or nickel corner in a primarily zone defense. Pennolino does a great job of using his instincts to make plays on running backs around the line of scrimmage. Pennolino is also a really solid blitzer making him a defensive playmaking weapon. Pennolino is the type of defensive player that is hard to find and you can see that from the diverse statline he posted this week. 85 Tackles, 4 Sacks, 1 INT, 6 TFL, 3 FF, and 4 PD. Pennolino is the type of defensive back that can line up all over the field and either cover, blitz, or defend the run. Something that not many players have the ability to do.
