In almost every game the Tigers were dominant with their quick-hitting and efficient offense that produced over 445 points to their opponent’s 130. This team is one that should be held in high regard as they will consistently compete for championships. Here are a few key athletes that were integral last season and will continue to be in the 2023 season.
Tayton James
Tayton James
Tayton James was simply phenomenal this past season and was by far their most explosive athlete. James had over 2,100 yards passing and another 1,000 plus rushing. Tayton’s versatility proves that he is certainly the athlete you want with the ball in his hands. Tayton James will be a great prospect to watch this season as continues to make his name known through excellent play.
Davin Chung
Davin Chung
Davin Chung was Mendenhall’s Top tackler and a force to be reckoned with on defense. Chung could be seen making tackles all over the field every Friday night. His play recognition is next level as he can quickly dissect blocking schemes and find the ball carrier for little to no gain. Chung is a great solid linebacker with top-tier potential and a big reason as how the Tigers held opponents to only 130 points for the season. Chung will be a formative athelte come 2023
Marcus is an incredibly dependent receiver who makes tough catches on a consistent basis. Marcus Allen Marcus Allen 5’8″ | 150 lbs | WR Mendenhall | 2024 State MS has proven to his QB and others that he can and will in the 50/50 balls. His 6-0 frame makes a generous target which paired with his speed makes an elusive ball carrier. Once Marcus gets the ball in his hands he is sure to make a big time play and give his team the advantage. This next season Marcus will certainly play a big role in the passing game.
Fred Dampier
Fred Dampier
Fred Dampier was unfortunately limited to 8 games however when he was on the field he played well. Dampier averaged over 7.5 tackles per game from his defensive tackle position. The intensity with which he played was evident as he collected multiple tackles for loss in addition to his 5.5 sacks. Next year Dampier can be a foundational piece on the Defensive Line for the Mendenhall Tigers.
Myles Womack
Myles Womack
Womack has contributed in various ways to his team including passing, rushing, receiving and returning. Myles is still fairly young but has shown flashes of top-tier athleticism. Due to his skill set and performance Myles has the potential to be a versatile weapon for the Mendenhall Tigers. Neverthless what is certain is that Myles Womack will be a prospect to watch over these next two seasons.
Mendenhall will be losing multiple starting athletes due to graduation on both sides of the ball. Nevertheless, it is clear that the Tigers have ample talent on their team to be competitive in every contest.
