This season, we saw Davison with a valiant playoff run, Heritage with the highest-scoring game in the playoffs, and Lapeer flexing their own offense all season. This league saw four teams make the postseason with an expectedly large amount of senior talent.
Standouts
RB | Jaylen Flowers | Davison
Flowers was next up in a streak of great Davison running backs! The thing about Jaylen is he’s lightning-quick and fundamentally polished. I love how well he performed in space and how he was usually able to follow his blocks to good yardage. In addition, he was great in the receiving game! Jaylen is an exceptional athlete who deserves an opportunity at the next level.
WR | Jaylen Johnson Jaylen Johnson 6'2" | 185 lbs | WR Grand Blanc | 2023 State MI | Grand Blanc
Johnson was by far the best receiver in the Saginaw South and is committed to an elite DII program with Grand Valley State! When you watch Jaylen’s film, he’s simply on another level. Whenever he catches a ball, he puts forth maximum effort to gain as many yards as he possibly can, no matter the situation. There are many highlights where he catches the ball, and does any combination of truck, stiff arm, juke, etc in order to hit paydirt. He’s the most effort WR in the class, and I’m super excited to see him paired with other 2023 WRs at GVSU.
IOL/DL | Colton Turk | Lapeer
Turk did a good job leading both fronts for Lapeer this season! The 6’0 240lb lineman was solid on both sides of the ball. Offensively, he was great at staying low and driving, playing to or through the whistle. He’s a monster off the pull, and was an absolutely vital lead blocker! Defensively, he wrapped up well and was able to earn some impressive TFLs.
ATH | Charles Cork | Heritage
Cork is a versatile player for Heritage that truly made a name for himself this season! Offensively, his speed and quickness make him a threat in the open field, and he has shown the ability to make tough catches in traffic. I’m impressed with his overall athleticism and ability to make things happen after the catch. In addition to his skills as a receiver, Cork has also seen time as a defensive back, displaying excellent coverage skills and the ability to make plays on the ball.
