Continue ReadingThese three RBs will have a great opportunity to raise their stock next season. Whether it’s greater projected output because of a great offseason, a big senior class with the program, or a general sky-high upward trend, these guys have potential. Today, I’ll be listing three guys with huge opportunities in front of them.
Rhett Roeser Rhett Roeser 6'0" | 220 lbs | RB De La Salle | 2024 State MI | De La Salle
Expect Roeser to receive a more significant workload with the graduation of key offensive pieces like Drogosh and Nichols. Honestly, Roeser will get bumped down in the next rankings update because some other backs have outperformed him recently. This is not to say he isn’t a great RB who’ll be deserving of college offers. I see him playing a big role next season.
It’s notable that on the Final Roster sheet, Rhett was listed at 5’11”, 210lbs in 2021 and 6’0″ 225 this season. I do think some of that added weight has impacted his top speed, but he’s still dang explosive. Again, expect a drop in the next update, then a rise once he has a great season next fall.
AJ Martel AJ Martel 5'9" | 180 lbs | RB Mason | 2024 State MI | Mason
Martel is the most underrated RB in Michigan right now. Leading Mason with a significant arm injury, he totaled over 3000 all-purpose yards with over 7YPC through his three seasons starting. Martel legitimately is a top 3 running back in the class of 2024, and deserves much more recognition. I love his acceleration and vision in the open field. He knows how to follow his blocks, hit the holes, and make guys miss in the open field. Keep in mind Mason made the semifinals this season and last season. Next season will be their best chance to make it to Ford Field, and if they do, AJ will have all eyes on him. For now, hoping for an extremely productive offseason.
Nakai Amachree Nakai Amachree 5'11" | 195 lbs | RB Haslett | 2024 State MI | Haslett
Like Martell, Nakai Amachree Nakai Amachree 5'11" | 195 lbs | RB Haslett | 2024 State MI is a Lansing Area RB not getting much praise. After a massive game against DeWitt in the Battle at the Big House, many D1 programs (MSU, MAC Teams) have shown interest. Still, not enough media coverage, and if Haslett didn’t play at The Big House, I’m not sure if he’d have gotten those college looks.
This season Nakai totaled 1,668 All-Purpose yards and 21 TDs, also totaling 41 tackles. and3 INTs on defense. He also returned kicks, making him a 3-way starter. He has good top speed with an 11.7 100M and is lethal in the open field. He’s pretty lean at 5’11”, 185, and has big potential as a return specialist.
