Congratulations to Thompson High School on winning the Alabama High School Association 7A Super 7 Football State Championship in 2022.
This journey with 7A football has been a wild roller coaster. The teams in this classification have all shown what great football in Alabama looks like. Following Thompson and Auburn this season has been extremely rewarding, with recognition given to players who are one foot from the spotlight. Thompson versus Auburn has put a lot of pieces to the puzzle for some of their athletes, and it showed on every play during the 2022 7A State Championship game in Jordan-Hare Stadium at Auburn University!
As I always say, let’s dive into some Alabama football.
“WHAT A NIGHT!” I know we talk highly of Trent on Prep Redzone Alabama, but this kid is single-handedly amazing. As an 8th grader, Trent has broken the Alabama High School Athletic Association 7A record with 12-14 pass completion, 5 touchdowns, 207 yards, and 1 interception in a huge win over the Auburn High School Tigers, 49-24. This kid has more to offer when it comes to playing football, and that is character. This young man has won the 7A MVP award and turned around and walked back to his team and handed it over to his teammate Korbyn Williams who also recorded 4TDs. During his match up last night seaborn has showed He has amazing accuracy and can routinely place the ball properly downfield. Trent can squeeze passes into shoebox-sized openings and drop in strikes past defending backs. Trent showed strong decision-making and did a good job of avoiding mistakes while throwing into some tight windows. Trent’s passes will be passed to receivers who can make a play on the ball, avoiding possibilities for defensive backs to pick off passes. He did an excellent job of directing his throws downfield to a variety of receivers, allowing him to defeat coverage and lead his weapons to huge scores. Defenses can’t swarm the box with Trent’s cannon arm and precise passing far downfield, because he’ll make them pay. This kid is special and he will be a 5 star athlete here soon!

Korbyn Williams
Korbyn Williams
Here’s another standout athlete! Thompson has so much talent, but this kid has everything a college team would need to be a valuable asset. This kid is a SLEEPER! He proved during his championship game that he’s a top wide receiver not only in 7A but in the state. This kid was taking dimes from his elite (8th grade) QB Trent Seaborn Trent Seaborn 6’1″ | 180 lbs | QB Thompson | 2027 State AL with a total of 4 TDs, 6 receptions, and 142 yds. If I were a college scout, I’d be drooling all over this kid’s extreme talents. Williams is a lethal, dynamic weapon with the potential to be a top college wide receiver. He can get vertical quickly and burn opponents far down the field. Williams is a fantastic route runner who is quick in and out of breaks. Cornerbacks are nearly incapable of keeping up with him, and his excellent route-running allows him to create space. In addition to getting open, Williams is excellent after the catch, with moves in the open field and a second gear to outrun defenders. Williams, while not being the tallest receiver, tracks the ball incredibly well and uses late hands while high-pointing the ball to make receptions over defensive backs. Williams is a talented receiver who can run the route tree and line up in several spots. When he breaks down, he has outstanding feel and instincts to break off his route and get open for his quarterback.

Clyde Pittman Clyde Pittman 6’1″ | 185 lbs | QB Auburn | 2023 State AL played extremely well during his matchup vs the Thompson Warriors. Even though the score didn’t show it, but he was extremely productive. This kid was sling the ball well with touch of great on the ground runs. Pittman possesses the necessary skills to be a solid starting quarterback in college football. He possesses a powerful arm that can make all throws and exceptional deep-ball accuracy. Pittman demonstrates the ability to shoot short- to intermediate-range passes and outstanding ball placement to lead his receivers for extra yards. Pittman can certainly spin it, with the velocity of his throws allowing him to fit the ball into small openings. He demonstrates the ability to work off his primary read in the pocket while remaining calm when his first read is covered. His timing, anticipation, accuracy, and field vision are all excellent, allowing him to be an outstanding pocket quarterback. Pittman has exceptional mobility and agility. He is a dangerous runner with superb balance and quickness in the pocket to avoid pass rushers. Pittman can prolong plays with his feet and athleticism, and he possesses the arm power to make massive throws off the platform. Pittman can get yards on the ground as well, because to his agility in the open field. Pittman’s style of play is that of a backyard baller who adds enthusiasm to his team.

Tyler Flakes
Tyler Flakes
Tyler Flakes is a valuable asset to the RB group for the Auburn Tigers. Getting to understand his style of play is something a lot teams, players and college coaches need to look more into. Flakes played his heart out on the field versus Thompson, he has shown me a lot of really good things. Flakes is a hard-charging rushing back who will be back for the Tigers next season. He is a physically powerful runner with good quickness. Flakes uses his power to gain yards after contact, fighting past tacklers and shoving defenders to the side to gain extra yardage. Flakes’ ability to finish runs successfully shines out, as he falls forward for extra yards and is able to push past defenders at the end of plays to produce more gains for his team. He possesses good contact balance, a powerful, stiff arm, and the acceleration to the second level to strike the hole. This kid is set apart and is looking to be a top RB in the state.
