Standouts
DL | Jaxson Engelberg Jaxson Engelberg 6'2" | 260 lbs | DL Caledonia | 2024 State MI | 6’2″ 240 | 2024 | Caledonia
Engelberg looked the part and played the part. During testing, I was impressed with his overall movement. He made the most of his 40 as he had a great first step and did great with the acceleration process. During other drills, he looked great, and I’m looking forward to receiving all of his testing numbers.
During the 1 on 1’s, Jaxson was the best defensive lineman. Again, with the great first step. He never tried to be too fancy, as he usually picked a side and executed simple yet effective pass-rush moves. Jaxson had quick, violent hands that seamlessly got rid of offensive lineman hands. He went all over the line, and against all offensive linemen, he was unstoppable. I’m looking forward to seeing Jaxson hopefully receiving more college attention very soon. He made the big trip out, and dominated the competition!
Moving forward, I’m excited to see what he can do next season. The Offseason is the time to compete and work your tail off to improve. Consistent competition and time in the weight room will be huge for Jaxson, as would be for anyone. Caledonia will likely be the OK-Red favorite next season, so I’m looking forward to seeing Engelberg in some more big games.
DL | Jacob Brzezinski Jacob Brzezinski 6'3" Henry Ford II | 2024 MI | 6’3″ 225 | 2024 | Henry Ford
Brzezinski is a lengthy defensive lineman that can line up on the end or interior. He looked great during the 1 on 1 session, with consistent wins on the defensive side. Like Jaxson, Jacob had great hands and had a great first step. I predict he had good testing numbers as well!
Diving deeper and watching his film, it looks like he’s a two-way starter on the offensive and defensive lines. He’s a fine offensive lineman, but I truly think Jacob’s potential lies with the defense. He shows promise as a run-stopper, and from today, he has shown he can rush the passer as well. He’s an interesting prospect since he wasn’t on my radar before today, but he sure is now!
OL | Ben Nichols Ben Nichols 6'6" | 325 lbs | OL Davison | 2026 State MI | 6’5″ 315 | 2026 | Davison
Playing for one of the best teams in Division 1, young Ben Nichols Ben Nichols 6'6" | 325 lbs | OL Davison | 2026 State MI has an extreme likelihood of becoming a Division 1 prospect. First off, he passes the eye test. He’s an imposing force with impressive genetics and has the physical gifts needed to play at a truly elite level. Fundamentally, he was one of the best freshman linemen I’ve seen. His overall footwork is amazing, and his hands were great. He was balanced and never fell for a cheeky pass-rush move. He consistently beat juniors and seniors, and with what I know about the Davison program and coaching staff, Nichols will be great.
