The playoffs have featured a plethora of high flying, and hard hitting match ups and now the state championship games are set. Round five featured some elite performances and the athletes that are listed below did a great job improving their recruiting stock and helping their team advance to the state championship.
Miles Coleman – Vandergrift High – Class of 2024
Miles is an explosive athlete that played a huge role in his teams win versus Katy last week. The speedy wide receiver prospect was an X factor and helped his squad punch their ticket to their schools first ever state championship game appearance. He is a 3 sport athlete that reportedly runs a 4.4 flat 40 yard dash, a 10.7 100 meter, and an impressive 22.03 200 meter. He recently took an unofficial visit to Texas Tech and has been building a buzz behind his play in the post season.
Dj Bailey – Desoto High School – Class of 2024
DJ is a rising 2024 dual treat quarterback prospect that has played winning football and helped lead his Desoto Eagles squad to the state championship game.
He has a strong arm, great pocket presence, good awareness, and the ability to convert on long 3rd downs.
He is explosive with his feet on the ground when he needs to and will have to play his best football as he will face off versus a talented Vandergrift squad.
Ronnell McLain – Desoto High school- Class of 2024
Ronnell is a 6’4 310 pound prospect for Desoto that has put some good film on tape and played physical football down the stretch during the play offs. The versatile linemen has good feet, quick hands, and is savvy in pass protection. His ability to create movement at the point of attack in the run game was impressive against Denton Guyer and he will have to continue to play big as him and the Eagles face off against a talented Vandergrift High defensive front.
Ja’Mari Laye Ja’Mari Laye 5'10" | 200 lbs | LB Desoto | 2024 State TX – Desoto – Class of 2024
Ja’Mari is a 5’10 200 pound explosive athlete that absolutely lit it up in round five and put on a show defensively versus Denton Guyer. He put up an astounding 17 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 3 pass break ups, along with two QB pressures. He has great awareness, ball skills, and gets sideline to sideline in a hurry. Desoto will need him to play big once again to finish their state championship run.
