Matthews was the best uncommitted receiver in the state for a long time. He has improved his top end speed greatly and can make plays after the catch.
He chose Utah over 20 other schools that offered him including Arizona, Michigan and Tennessee among others.
Matthews is the fifth player from California in Utah’s 2023 recruiting class and the fourth receiver in the class.
Highlights
The Oaks Christian running back announced his commitment to Kansas on December 4.
Thompson ran for 1035 yards on 152 carries with 16 touchdowns for the Lions this season.
He took his official visit on December 2 and committed on the spot. He had 12 other offers including USC, Oregon and Utah among others.
Thompson is the second player from California in Kansas’ 2023 recruiting class joining Surahz Buncom Surahz Buncom 6’4″ | 175 lbs | DB Mater Dei Catholic | 2023 State CA of Mater Dei Catholic.
The 6-foot-5 quarterback announced his commitment to Pittsburg on December 5.
Dieffenbach only appeared in six games for Agoura this season but had a spectacular junior season with 270 yards per game with 34 touchdowns in 10 games.
He chose Pittsburgh over UNLV, Colorado and San Diego State who also offered him.
Dieffenbach is the first player from California in Pittsburgh’s 2023 recruiting class and the first quarterback.

Inglewood safety Justin Johnson Justin Johnson 6’1″ | 185 lbs | WR Carlsbad | 2023 State CA announced his commitment to Fresno State on Tuesday.
Johnson was previously committed to Arizona but reopened his recruitment on October 17.
He chose Fresno State over Arizona, Florida State and Michigan State among others.
Johnson is the third player from Southern California in Fresno State’s 2023 recruiting class. He is the third defensive back in the class joining Brandon Ramirez Brandon Ramirez 6’0″ | 200 lbs | DB San Joaquin Memorial | 2023 State CA of San Joaquin Memorial and Imari Conley Imari Conley 6’0″ | 190 lbs | DB Central | 2023 State CA of Central East.
The Simi Valley cornerback announced his commitment to Michigan State on Friday.
Brown had an interception and a forced fumble for Simi Valley this season.
He was previously committed to Arizona in June but withdrew his commitment later. He visited Michigan State last weekend and committed shortly after.
Brown chose Michigan State over eight other schools that offered him including BYU, Arizona, Colorado State and Washington State.
