Cassius Murphy
Cassius Murphy
Murphy is likely the top DL prospect available in San Diego after Early-Signing Day. He was a dominant presence on Carlsbad’s front seven, recording 22 TFL and 6.5 sacks with 2 FF as a senior. He’s explosive coming off the ball getting into the backfield with short-area burst and violent hands. He’s disruptive in the run game creating negative plays and fighting off double teams to plug holes. He holds serious upside in his pass-rush skillset with ability to win 1v1 matchups over Gs and OTs. Murphy would be a steal for any D-II/D-III program at this stage.
Jacob Sisson
Jacob Sisson
Sisson and fellow senior DL Cassius Murphy led the way up front for Carlsbad’s defensive front seven. He’s an active DE that can create pressure stunting off the edge and collapse the pocket with a powerful, leveraged bull rush. He’s quick to disengage blocks and locate ball-carriers in the run game. He can get down the line and track down RBs from the backside with a high motor and straight-line speed. Sisson’s picked up 4 offers in December from Adams St., Western New Mexico, Benedictine, and Concordia.
Kainoa Devore
Kainoa Devore
Devore’s a high-upside interior OL that’s effective from both C and G spots. He has a stout, physical frame at 5’11”/265 with the lower-body strength to move DTs off the ball. He’s a strong run blocker that can locate defenders, get into their framework with proper hand placement, and stick to the block. He’s quick to snap-and-engage at center and packs a powerful punch at the POA. He shows pass-block skilling and IQ keeping the interior of the pocket clean, picking up stunts/blitzes, and maintaining leverage. Devore added offers from Chapman and Redlands in December with an official visit planned to Chapman in January.
Talon Beltran
Talon Beltran
Beltran’s a raw DL prospect with physical upside on both sides of the ball at DE/RT. He’s long, rangy athlete at 6’4”/235 that shows good movement in space and physicality at the POA. He uses his reach to shed/disengage blocks on the edge and shows a relentless motor to the ball. He moves with urgency and intent off the ball and can diagnose-and-react to create negative plays. Beltran picked up offers from Gannon and Culver-Stockton in December.
Terry Donati
Terry Donati
Donati provided senior leadership on both sides of the ball for University City at C/DL. He’s a strong run blocker that can create interior lanes and drive DTs off the ball. He does a good job of getting his hands into the framework of DL and sticking to his blocks with persistent leg drive. He’s a bit undersized at 6’2”/235 but could benefit from time in a college weight room and potentially fill out his frame. Donati picked up offers from Cal Lutheran and Lewis & Clark during the summer.
