Jake Zeal
Jake Zeal
Mr. Zeal finished the night with 14 carries for 74 yards on offense and had a performance on defense finishing with the following stat line – 9 tackles, 2 sacks, 4.0 TFLs, and 1 FF. Talk about having himself a game. On offense, he has the lateral quickness to turn the corner and has a good burst through the line of scrimmage which he uses to break a 32 yard run in the game. On defense, this young man is able to make open field tackles on the perimeter on outside tackle runs and isn’t afraid to trigger downhill to take run blocks head on before making the tackle for little to no gain. One play in particular was when he fought two blockers on an outside the tackle run where he was able to split the blocks and bring down the ball carrier forcing a turnover on downs. Let’s not forget when he came on a corner blitz to come away with a sack on the QB and when he delivered a heavy hit on the QB it forced a fumble on the play. All in all, this is a shifty speed back that can also hold his own at cornerback on the perimeter.
Gunar Lobdell
Gunar Lobdell
Moving onto the 2nd of this 3 head rushing attack is Mr. Lobdell. This young man finished the game with 16 carries for 41 yards and 6 tackles. On offense, this young man has the vision to find running lanes between the tackles and once he doe she uses his burst to gain a step on 2nd level defenders to keep the chains moving. There were a few times where he almost ended up breaking a long run but just got brought down last second with shoe string tackles. Switching over to defense, this young man can meet the ball carrier in the hole and work gap to gap resulting in little to no gain on the play. All in all, this a downhill style runner that can work as a linebacker holding down the middle of this defense.
Finishing off this dominant rushing attack we have the young man of the day in Mr. Dunker who finished with 22 carries for 120 yards for 3 TDs and secured 4 tackles along with 1 INT on defense. This young man is more of a downhill style runner that keeps his feet driving to play through contact breaking weak grab tackles in the process. He also has the vision to find running lanes between the tackles where he can get through and lower his shoulder upon contact to keep the chains moving. One play on defense that stood out as well was where he came away with an interception. Here, he jumped the route in the hook curl zone drop diving to come away with the turnover stopping any momentum the opposing team was generating at this point. All in all, this young man is a downhill runner that will play through the whistle until he gets brought down.
Sam Pecoraro
Sam Pecoraro
Mr. Pecoraro is one of a few offensive lineman that had an impressive performance during this game controlling the line of scrimmage throughout this game. This young man is able to block in open space when pulling to pick up either a defensive back or outside linebacker creating lanes for his ball carriers to hit. He can also wash the defensive lineman down to create a lane as well. On defense, he works on the D-Line where he was able to come away with 2 tackles. All in all, this is more of a run blocking lineman that has some agility to him to get out into space when pulling.
Jace Flynn
Jace Flynn
Mr. Flynn was a man on a mission on defense finishing the night with 7 tackles and 0.5 TFLs working as a linebacker. It seemed like whenever there was any momentum starting to go for their opponent this young man was closing to the ball making a play to stall their drives out. He was able to do so by shooting gaps to disrupt plays in the backfield where he would either come away with the tackle or allow his teammates to rally to the ball to secure TFLs in the backfield. This young man also isn’t afraid to stick defenders either in the hole or in open space to deliver a heavy hit on the ball carrier. All in all, this is a young man to get eyes on if you’re in need of a run stopping linebacker.
Henry Engel
Henry Engel
Mr. Engel is another one of the Lena-Winslow lineman that has potential for the next level. This young man stands at 6’3 260 and did a good job getting to 2nd level blocks to tie up the LBs creating a hole for the ball carriers to hit. He also did a good job using his strong punch to jolt defenders upright at the point of attack when he was blocking in line. On defense he can also work as a defensive tackle where he came away with 4 tackles on the day. Also is sitting with a 4.5 GPA and 1450 SAT score, gets it done on the field and in the classroom.
Odin Stabenow
Odin Stabenow
Keeping on the trend of standout lineman that Lena-Winslow has, we have Mr. Stabenow who finished the night with 3 tackles and 0.5 TFLs on the day. On offense, he can wash the defensive line down and drive blocks to create a lane. When he drives blocks, this is where you get a good look a this strong punch at the point of attack to jolt defenders upright. On defense, he does show his potential as a 2 gap defender and came up late in the game to force a turnover on downs by splitting the double team and coming away with that TFL.
