Starting the season of right with a win over their rivals across town, the Sheridan Yellow Jackets, the bulldogs pulled off the win late in the fourth quarter. A well deserved win with their new head man, Ryan Mallet! Mallet being an ex Arkansas Razorback quarterback and an ex New England Patriot. In week one all of the jitters were there for both sides. Overall they needed to pick the win up and they did just that!
One takeaway that I noticed from this squad is that they are young all around. The young guys really stepped up this season in a big way! One guy that I look forward to watch next season is Junior James Thorton! James is both a Receiver and a Strong Safety and he made some great plays all throughout this past season! In the late rivalry between the Bulldogs and the Watson Chapel Wildcats, he assisted in multiple tackles in the backfield and really helped out in the secondary and I think all he needs is just this next season to grow into a really terrific player!
Another guy that played both ways sometimes and that I was very pleased with was Sophomore Kylon Davis Kylon Davis 5'7" | 185 lbs | RB White Hall | 2025 AR ! Davis played both ways as a running back and at outside linebacker for the Bulldogs! At running back he was a freight train plowing through defenders left and right! He really has a great motor and a drive to get better week by week. One game especially, not only did he play at running back but also at quarterback for the Bulldogs! He threw for 2 touchdowns that game and really had a great night! I think next season he’s going to be a leader for this Bulldog squad!
One thing that did impress me watching the Bulldogs in person was the size of the offensive line. The guy that impressed me most was Sema’J Walker Sema’J Walker 6'5" | 320 lbs | DL White Hall | 2024 State AR . Walker is a great lineman in the trenches on both sides of the ball! He has great strength the go along with his size. I think next season, what I’d personally like to see is more of, is Walker at offensive line primarily. I think what happens is these younger guys come in and play both ways and get absolutely gassed and tired! I think Walker is a great Tackle and has a very bright future ahead of him!
This season was a rollercoaster for the Bulldogs and I believe that the younger guys like Walker and James Thorton are going to be what leads this team into a possible playoff spot next season! In the end the Bulldogs finished the season 4-6 without a playoff birth! I think this team will well be into the playoffs next season as they grow and develop in the off season! I really believe there are some great talented guys on this team and I really do look forward to seeing them in the off season and next season!
