Smith is rising quickly among the junior quarterback rankings. He has thrown for just under 2,500 yards and 34 touchdowns.
He will have to take care of the ball against Bosco and be accurate to all three levels for Serra to pull off the upset.
Smith has offers from Florida State, Michigan State and Washington among others.
Mann is the best defensive player for Serra and will be tasked with stopping Bosco’s very good running game.
He has 87 tackles with five sacks and an interception. Mann has offers from Pittsburgh and San Jose State.
Green is the best defensive back for Serra and will have to try to over Bosco’s elite receiving corps.
He has three interceptions on the season with a fumble recovery.
Highlights
Gilmartin isn’t the most prolific pass catching tight end, but he has the size to hang with Bosco players in the trenches.
Serra likes to throw to him in the redzone sometimes and he may be a matchup problem for Bosco at some point due to his size. He has 10 offers including Fresno State, San Diego State and San Jose State.
ST. JOHN BOSCO
Jones is a big bruiser of a running back who runs downhill and punishes defenders. He also has the speed to break away in open space.
He is likely the most physical running back that Serra has seen this season and he could get big chunks of yardage.
Uiagalelei always impacts the game as a defensive end but Bosco likes to unleash him as a tight end in big games like these.
As a tight end, Uiagalelei is a matchup nightmare similar to a Rob Gronkowski. He is too big for most guys to cover and too fast big linebackers to cover.
Uiagalelei just named his final three schools as Oregon, Ohio State and USC.
Bosco coach Jason Negro raved about Jones to the media this week and rightfully so. He’s one of those hybrid players that can cover anyone or come up in the box to stop the running game.
He’s a leader on the field who prepares well and is one of those guys you always have to be aware of where he is on the field.
Clarkson took advantage of his chance to be the lone starting quarterback at Bosco this year and had a fantastic season. His accuracy is top notch and his ability to extend plays with his legs is very good.
He is a tough and gritty player who is difficult to game plan for. With the recent coaching change at Louisville, he will be fantastic to follow before the early signing day.
Viliamu-Asa is the top player in the junior class in my opinion. He patrols so much of the field as a linebacker and punishes people with good hits.
Serra will try to run the ball but the linebacker trio of him, Deven Bryant Deven Bryant 6’1″ | 210 lbs | LB St. John Bosco | 2023 State CA and Khmori House Khmori House 6’2″ | 205 lbs | LB St. John Bosco | 2024 State CA will make things challenging for them.
