The 6’2″ 185 pound wide out finds himself in the rankings for the first time after an enormous senior season where he caught 67 balls for 913 yards and 10 touchdowns. Playing the outside receiver role for Northwest Rankin, Brown showed a strong improvement to his route running and his ability to find open space in the defense against zone coverage. A natural hands catcher, the senior wide out rarely dropped footballs and did not show any hesitation coming across the middle to make a big grab. Brown also has the speed to make plays after the catch or take the top off the defense. He currently holds one offer from Mississippi State, but other schools look to be interested in the Northwest Rankin product.
Playing in Gautier’s Air Raid offense, senior AJ Phillips AJ Phillips 6’0″ | 170 lbs | WR Gautier | 2023 State MS was no stranger to catching footballs over his career, totaling over 1,958 yards and 21 touchdowns in his career. A smooth technician at the line of scrimmage, Phillips is the type of gifted wide receiver that knows how to create separation between himself and the defender over him. In addition to his technique, Phillips also has good speed and impressive twitch to his game and can create big plays downfield. This is the type of guy that can score from anywhere on the field. Phillips currently holds offers from Alcorn State, Nicholls State, and many of the state’s local junior colleges.
Catching 61 balls for 801 yards and 10 touchdowns as a senior, Chasden Collins Chasden Collins 5’7″ | 160 lbs | WR Stone | 2023 State MS is a dynamic slot receiver who utilizes his speed to create huge plays. Equipped with blazing fast speed, Collins is the kind of player you can use all over the place in an offense. The Stone High product is impressive with the ball in his hands and shows the ability to make defenders miss in space. While he may not be the biggest, Collins can still go up over top of people and grab the football out of the air. Holding an offer from East Mississippi Community College, Collins is still waiting on more opportunities to come his way.

Playing quarterback for Leake Central last season, Jarkea Reed Jarkea Reed 6’1″ | 160 lbs | WR Leake Central | 2023 State MS made the switch over to wide out for his senior campaign and had a ton of success. Reed caught 27 footballs for 624 yards and 4 touchdowns and showed a ton of upside at the position. A long and athletic playmaker, Reed played the outside receiver role for Leake Central and dominated on fade balls. His speed and burst off the line of scrimmage are very impressive and he does a great job at controlling his body when at the top of routes. The senior holds offers from many of the state’s local junior colleges and shows a ton of upside for the next level.
A big bodied wide out at 6’1″ 215, Morton’s Tony Boyd Tony Boyd 6’1″ | 210 lbs | WR Morton | 2023 State MS certainly looks the part of a next level receiver. As a senior, Boyd had 45 catches for 865 yards and 4 touchdowns, while also carrying the ball 41 times for 258 yards and 4 touchdowns on the ground. Boyd is an athletic receiver who has some of the best ball skills out of all the new additions. Routinely, he was able to go up and make acrobatic catches, snagging the football out of the air at all kinds of angles. Boyd has natural hands and was a playmaker in the open field after the catch. He currently holds one offer from Hinds Community College.
A smooth technician of running routes, Tabb Powell Tabb Powell 6’1″ | 165 lbs | WR Eupora | 2023 State MS had a huge senior campaign this past season, putting him on our radar. Powell played the outside receiver role for Eupora and also spent time returning punts and kicks. Powell has good long speed and knows how to shift into different gears in order to reach the end zone. His natural hands help him convert on key downs and he does a great job at finding space. Powell is currently waiting on his first offer and should be a priority target for D3 schools and JuCos around the southeast.
A major contributor to MRA’s passing attack, Rivers Godwin Rivers Godwin 6’2″ | 175 lbs | WR Madison Ridgeland Academy | 2023 State MS is a speedy outside threat that can take the top off the defense. Godwin stands tall at 6’2″ and has the length to make plays over defenders. Smooth at the line of scrimmage, Godwin does a good job at freeing up space between himself and the corner across from him before using his speed to create even more distance. Godwin is a true deep threat that makes a ton of plays on go balls and posts, forcing defenses to drop coverage or bracket him on key downs. Listing offers from Tufts, Navy, and Alabama A&M among others, Godwin is a bit of a sleeper prospect at this stage of the game.
With over 1203 yards and 17 touchdowns on the year, Will Upton Will Upton 5’9″ | 165 lbs | WR Jackson Prep | 2023 State MS produced at a ridiculously high level as a senior. The dynamic slot receiver was a huge part of Jackson Prep’s state title winning year and will look to bring his skillset to a university soon. Upton is a true slot who runs great routes and knows how to find space. He has impressive speed in the open field and can change gears in order to score from anywhere on the field. While he isn’t the tallest or longest, Upton can go up and get the football out of the air. He shows little concern when running intermediate inside breaking routes over the middle and catches anything that comes his way. Upton is still waiting on his first college opportunity.
Totaling over 950 yards and 16 touchdowns for Tupelo’s dominant passing attack, KD Gibson KD Gibson 6’1″ | 175 lbs | WR Tupelo | 2023 State MS was one of the top wide outs in 6A this season. Standing at 6’2″ and having some special speed to him, Gibson is the complete package at wide out. He can run right by defenders and score from anywhere on the field. Gibson is a smooth route runner that stacks on top of defenders well athleticism the highest point of his route. His yards after catch ability is impressive with the senior frequently showing how elusive he is with the ball in his hands. Gibson currently holds offers from East Central Community College and Holmes, but will look to add more as time goes on.
A quick twitched and explosive receiver out of Natchez High, Damarcco Blanton Damarcco Blanton 6’0″ | 175 lbs | WR Natchez | 2023 State MS put up a great season of tape as a senior. Due to his natural speed and burst, Blanton was used as the teams go to deep threat and handled punts and kicks this past season. Blanton has a long frame and uses it to adjust to footballs thrown his way. This guy is special with the ball in his hands, able to out run defensive backs and change direction quickly in order to score. Blanton currently holds offers from many of the state’s local junior colleges.
