The position requirements entail the ability to have good consistent ball skills, create separation from coverage, and crisp route running skills. Let’s take a look at the receivers from the 2024 Georgia Top 50!
KJ Bolden KJ Bolden 6'1" | 185 lbs | WR Buford | 2024 State GA – WR – Buford High School (#2 overall)
- Bolden has reliable hands and shows the willingness to make catches in traffic over the middle.
- A fluid mover capable of creating some separation over the middle of the field, Bolden has the long arms and soft hands to provide a sizable catch radius.
- He transitions quickly from receiver to runner, and he has enough speed to threaten the seam.
- Has the strong hands any college wide receiver coach and quarterback would covet. Tracks the deep ball over either shoulder and brings in passes fluidly without breaking stride downfield.
Zion Ragins Zion Ragins 5'11" | 165 lbs | WR Jones County | 2024 State GA – WR – Jones County High School (#6 overall)
- Have exceptional straight-line speed & takes advantage of open seams when his quarterback is on target.
- Ragins is a natural playmaker, at his best with the ball in his hands.
- Ragins has quick feet and good body control, allowing him to gear down and quickly get in and out of cuts. His hands are good, and he’s a creative runner after the catch with the elusiveness to slip tackles in space.
- Balanced, savvy route runner with top field awareness, setting up and selling routes beautifully.
Ny Carr Ny Carr 5'10" | 175 lbs | WR Colquitt County | 2024 State GA – WR – Colquitt County High School (#9 overall)
- Flashes the foot quickness and toughness to handle slot duties at the next level and lines up all over the field. Dangerous with the ball in his hands.
- He’s also a catch-and-run threat, a creative runner who has good vision in the open field; he’ll be an option to return kicks as well.
- Carr accelerates 0-to-60 and hits top speed fast enough to outrun angles. He’s also flexible and agile, able to keep the pedal to the floor as Carr turns and weaves.
- Fluid athlete with explosive burst and speed to stretch the field and breeze past defenders. Has a quick first step and gets to top speed in a hurry.
Jalewis Solomon Jalewis Solomon 6'0" | 185 lbs | WR Schley County | 2024 State GA – WR – Schley County High School (#15 overall)
- He’s equally dangerous in catch-and-run situations as he is taking the top off a defense
- Solomon has reliable hands and shows the willingness to make catches in traffic over the middle.
- He’s at his best working in space, showing the quickness. His stop-start ability allows him to create initial separation.
- Often used on deep routes, getting separation down the sideline or over the middle on crossing routes by extending his arms rather than pure speed.
Malcolm Simmons Malcolm Simmons 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR Jonesboro | 2024 GA – WR – Jonesboro High School (#19 overall)
- His long arms allow him to play bigger than his size, and Simmons has a frame that can carry a little more weight.
- Very good hands, accepts the ball fluidly on most throws and is ready to make a play afterward. Makes catches in traffic, even going up over taller defenders with vertical and toughness.
- Simmons shows solid ball-tracking skills and body control downfield, able to adjust to the off-target throw.
BJ Gibson BJ Gibson 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR Wilcox County | 2024 State GA – WR – Wilcox County High School (#20 overall)
- He’s a precise route runner, creating separation when used on quick outs and stop patterns in college. Gibson has good stop-start ability and lateral agility.
- He tracks the ball well downfield and consistently runs under long throws.
- Gibson runs precise routes, showing an innate feel for setting up defensive backs to create separation.
Dwight Phillips Dwight Phillips 5'11" | 175 lbs | RB Pebblebrook | 2024 State GA – WR – Pebblebrook High School (#23 overall)
- Often used on deep routes, getting separation down the sideline or over the middle on crossing routes by extending his arms rather than pure speed.
- Does a nice job locating and tracking deep passes and is a legitimate vertical threat. Willing to go up and attack the ball.
- He’s excellent downfield, accelerating to top speed quickly and stacking on top of cornerbacks. Cowing has excellent body control, contorting to make difficult catches and working well on back-shoulder throws.
Debron Gatling Debron Gatling 6'2" | 180 lbs | WR Milton | 2024 State GA – WR – Milton High School (#26 overall)
- Has a great release super quick off the line of scrimmage with good change-of-direction ability with excellent agility and jukes defenders in the open field
- Has long arms to stiff-arm defensive backs in the open field. Willing to lower his pads to run through tackles for extra yardage. Goes over the middle, can spin out of tackles, and take the big hit.
- Very good athlete with a nice combination size, quickness, and length
- Has a nice bag of tricks and is excellent with fakes and jukes to gain sepertion
- A versatile weapon, proving to be effective inside in the slot and outside on the perimeter. Makes plays at all levels of the field.
Sacovie White Sacovie White 5'10" | 165 lbs | WR Cass | 2024 State GA – WR – Cass High School (#42 overall)
- Has good body strength to squirm out of tackles with the coordination to maneuver his frame between defenders.
- A excellent route runner – who obviously is a student of the game
- Fluid athlete with explosive burst and speed to stretch the field and breeze past defenders. Has a quick first step and gets to top speed in a hurry.
