After being the head coach at Jackson State, College Football and NFL Hall-of-Famer Deion Sanders recently took the job at Colorado in hopes of bringing the Buffaloes back to relevancy. Sanders knows where the talent is, and he’s already looking to the peach state to rebuild his roster.
Who is Sanders going after? Let’s take a look.
Kasen Weisman Kasen Weisman 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB South Paulding | 2023 State GA – QB – South Paulding
One of the top 2023 quarterbacks in Georgia, Weisman is a former Kansas commitment who couldn’t pass up an opportunity to play for the up and coming Buffaloes under new management. A 6-foot-2 175-pounder out of South Paulding High School, Weisman has a live arm with impressive mobility and the ability to take off for a big gain. He shows good footwork in the pocket and loves to push the ball down the field. His best football is still ahead of him, and his natural ability and arm strength makes him a promising quarterback for Colorado. He has big-play potential and should be able to sit for a year or two as he continues to develop and add more muscle.
Omar White Omar White 6'3" | 305 lbs | DL Lee County | 2024 State GA – DT – Valdosta
A quick-reacting, hard-hitting defensive lineman from South Georgia, the big Valdosta Wildcat was excellent as a junior this fall, making 66 tackles and living in the backfield, making an eye-opening 28 tackles behind the line of scrimmage. As big as he is at 6-foot-3 and 305-pounds, White moves like a cat and can be extremely tough to block with just one offensive lineman. He had some big-time D1 offers to choose from, but once Deion Sanders came calling, White knew he wanted to head out to Colorado and make a name for himself in the mountains. He wanted to play for a legend and will help jump-start Colorado’s defensive line the second he gets to campus. He’s an impactful run defender who also knows how to get after thee quarterback. Those types of players are needed to build a championship-level defense, and now Sanders has one on the way. His high school career isn’t over as he still has one year left, but his recruitment now is. One of the best defensive tackle prospects in Georgia is now a future Colorado Buffalo.
Adam Hopkins Adam Hopkins 6'1" | 170 lbs | WR Thomas County Central | 2023 State GA – WR – Thomas County Central
One of the top overall wide receivers in South Georgia, Hopkins is an explosive receiver with strong, reliable hands who will give Colorado a promising pass-catcher from day one. At 5-foot-11 175-pounds, Thompkins is a vertical threat who can also take a short pass for a decent amount of yards when given space to run. He’s a crisp route-runner and was a consistent weapon in the passing game all through his high school career. A former Auburn commitment, Hopkins caught 33 passes as a senior this fall for 490 yards and 6 touchdowns. The Buffaloes are looking to impact players who can bring more athleticism to the roster, and that’s exactly what Hopkins will do. He does a lot of things well and could push for early playing time. With an experienced and talented quarterback at Colorado now, Hopkins could see some passes come his way early if he continues to develop the minute he gets to campus.
