The showcase had no talent shortage at either position and narrowing down the top 10 for both was extremely difficult. But I am pleased to offer you my picks for the best testers from the Minnetonka Stock up Showcase.
RBs
Sawyer Wilkie Sawyer Wilkie 5'11" | 205 lbs | RB Lakeville North | 2024 State MN : Lakeville North 2024 5’11” 200 lbs
40: 4.59
Shuttle: 4.41
Broad Jump: 9’3″
L-Drill: 6.95
This Lakeville North RB balled out at the showcase. He’s got great speed and agility for someone of his size. He boasts incredible explosiveness. Wilkie is a kid you can tell has been putting in work during the offseason in both the weight room and on the track.
Ramero Trevino Ramero Trevino 5'10" | 210 lbs | RB Willmar | 2024 State MN : Willmar 2024 5’9″ 205 lbs
40: 4.84
Shuttle: 4.6
Broad Jump: 8’5″
L-Drill: 7.4
Trevino is built like a truck. Get him in pads and I imagine he’d run near anyone over. He’s a power-back who’s on my watch list for this upcoming season.
Jeffrey Branson Jeffrey Branson 5'11" | 185 lbs | RB Farmington | 2024 State MN : Farmington 2024 5’9″ 180 lbs
40: 4.97
Shuttle: 4.38
Broad Jump: 9’2″
L-Drill: 7.15
Branson caught my eye as soon as he walked into the Tonka Dome. This kid passes the eye test in every way. He’s built like a brick house and has a lot of the intangibles to match. His broad jump took me by surprise and he does a nice job of staying low to the ground and changing direction quickly.
Cody Packer Cody Packer 5'9" | 205 lbs | RB St. Thomas Academy | 2024 State MN : St. Thomas Academy 2024 5’7″ 195 lbs
40: 4.65
Shuttle: 4.56
Broad Jump: 8’11”
L-Drill: 7.53
BRING BACK FULLBACKS! Packer is on his way to doing so. This human tank boasts surprising speed for a 195 pounder, and good agility for his size as well. This is a kid I would not want to meet in a hole. Linebackers are warned.
: Montevideo 2024 6′ 235 lbs
40: 4.91
Shuttle: 4.87
Broad Jump: 8’9″
L-Drill: 7.69
Our RB MVP, O’Malley is a stud. He looks like Captain America post-transformation. Very very rarely do you find a kid of this size and athletic caliber? He has FBS or FCS upside.
Ej Mathis Ej Mathis 5'10" | 175 lbs | RB Totino-Grace | 2023 MN : Totino-Grace 2023 5’11” 165 lbs
40: 4.62
Shuttle: 4.47
Broad Jump: 9’1″
L-Drill: 7.16
I’m disappointed that I didn’t know of Mathis sooner. The Totino RB tested off the charts well, showing flashes of great agility and serious explosiveness. He’s a major 2023 sleeper more colleges need to look at.
Ryan Kaydea Ryan Kaydea 5'8" | ATH St Michael Albertville | 2024 MN : STMA 2024 5’6″ 160 lbs
40: 4.62
Shuttle: 4.16
Broad Jump: 8’10”
L-Drill: 7.1
Kayeda uses his small frame very well. He makes quick cuts and runs low to the ground. Fast feet eat, and Kayeda will be eating plenty next season.
Trent Josewski Trent Josewski 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB Big Lake | 2024 State MN : Big Lake 2024 5’10” 180 lbs
40: 4.44
Shuttle: 4.31
Broad Jump: 9’5″
L-Drill: 7.07
This kid-tested off the charts at the Tonka Dome. A true 4.4 at 180 pounds for a junior is rare. Even rarer is the fact that Josewski was completely off the radar before this. He has all the athletic potential in the world, this kid could truthfully help turn around the Big Lake program.
Ben Holte: Shakopee 2024 5’11” 175 lbs
40: 4.65
Shuttle: 4.44
Broad Jump: 9′
L-Drill: 6.9
Another huge sleeper before the showcase, Holte is expected to break out huge in the upcoming season. He looks to take over a majority of carries for the Sabers and is another athlete who is very well-rounded and great at quick and sudden changes in direction.
James Engle James Engle 5'8" | 175 lbs | RB Maple Grove | 2026 State MN : Maple Grove 2026 5’8″ 155 lbs
40: 4.72
Shuttle: 4.34
Broad Jump: 8’9″
L-Drill: 7.1
Engle was my favorite 2026 RB prospect from the camp for a variety of reasons. He put up crazy numbers for a freshman and I wouldn’t be surprised if he got some varsity reps as a sophomore. The young Crimson player has a bright future ahead of him.
LBs
Charlie Zok Charlie Zok 5'11" | 210 lbs | LB Detroit Lakes | 2024 State MN : Detroit Lakes 2024 5’11” 205 lbs
40: 4.69
Shuttle: 4.47
Broad Jump: 8’8″
L-Drill: 7.6
Another Detroit Lakes standout, Zok had a great day testing. Zok is a large linebacker who shows off great closing speed. He looks like he lives in the weight room, and I expect big things from him next season.
Will Martin Will Martin 6'2" | 225 lbs | LB Detroit Lakes | 2024 State MN : Detroit Lakes 2024 6’1″ 215 lbs
40: 4.97
Shuttle: 4.75
Broad Jump: 8’8″
L-Drill: 7.28
The other half of the dominant Detroit Lakes duo, Martin is a big body imposing linebacker who makes his presence felt all over the field. He fills out every bit of the 6’1″ frame. Martin is the kind of athlete RBs are scared of.
Zach Welch: Anoka 2025 5’10” 190 lbs
40: 4.72
Shuttle: 4.7
Broad Jump: 9’2″
L-Drill: 8.15
Welch boasts one of the fastest 40 times recorded among LBs. The sophomore standout earned all-district honors last season and won team defensive MVP. Expect Welch to continue the dominance into next year.
Malachi Kohls Malachi Kohls 6'3" | 230 lbs | OL Minnesota Valley Lutheran | 2023 MN : Minnesota Valley Lutheran 2023 6’4″ 230 lbs
40: 4.91
Shuttle: 4.84
Broad Jump: 7’11”
L-Drill: 8.22
Kohls is a massive LB prospect that has a very high upside. The small-school standout showed off some incredible athletic ability and great speed for his giant frame. The LB recorded over 110 total tackles during his senior season and should be an impact player at the next level.
Jacob Wrbanek Jacob Wrbanek 6'3" | 220 lbs | LB Maple Grove | 2025 State MN : Maple Grove 2025 6’4″ 205 lbs
40: 5.03
Shuttle: 4.62
Broad Jump: 8’8″
L-Drill: 7.08
Wrbanek oozes potential. The sophomore has massive size and shows off some great agility. In drills, he has good hip movement and plays well in coverage. This kid has a serious P5 upside.
Eli Judson Eli Judson 6'3" | 220 lbs | LB Eastview | 2024 State MN : Eastview 2024 6’2″ 215 lbs
40: 5.07
Shuttle: 4.71
Broad Jump: 8’2″
L-Drill: 7.66
This Eastview junior standout showed off some serious potential at the showcase. His speed seems to translate better to on the field than testing would indicate. He can change direction quickly and is a must-watch for next season.
Evan Hatton Evan Hatton 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB Mounds View | 2024 State MN : Mounds View 2024 6’1 200 lbs
40: 4.72
Shuttle: 4.44
Broad Jump: 8’11”
L-Drill: 7.2
Hatton is an eye-popping prospect. He showed off phenomenal speed and agility across testing and proved his explosiveness multiple times. Hatton has gone tragically under the radar, something I expect to change during his senior year.
Cooper Desutter Cooper Desutter 6'1" | 195 lbs | LB Eastview | 2024 State MN : Eastview 2024 6′ 170 lbs
40: 4.88
Shuttle: 4.53
Broad Jump: 9’1″
L-Drill: 7.71
Another Eastview backer on the list DeSutter impressed me at the combine. He shows great agility, and his broad jump was very impressive. He looked very comfortable playing in space, and the Lightning LB room next season should be feared.
Taran Blasy Taran Blasy 6'1" | 220 lbs | LB Park Of Cottage Grove | 2024 State MN : Park of Cottage Grove 2024 6′ 210 lbs
40: 4.72
Shuttle: 4.4
Broad Jump: 9’7″
L-Drill: 7.2
Our LB MVP, Blasy was easily one of the most impressive prospects at the showcase. He’s quick and nimble, despite filling out his 210-pound frame very well. He showed no lack of effort and is an extremely personable young man. The Mustangs LB room has a true leader in Blasy.
Jackson Brutger Jackson Brutger 6'0" | ATH STMA | 2024 MN : STMA 2024 6′ 200 lbs
40: 4.84
Shuttle: 4.8
Broad Jump: 8’6″
L-Drill: 7.51
Brutger rounds out what is, admittedly a very impressive group of 6A LBs. The STMA athlete showed off how well-rounded he was across all 4 testing events. He’s already very athletically gifted, and I could easily see his recruiting hype blow up during his senior season.
