Georgia has plenty, so expect coaches to visit high schools across the state frequently. Here, we monitor some 2023 WRs in Georgia still looking for a home and why you should take a chance on them.
Adam Hopkins Adam Hopkins 6'1" | 170 lbs | WR Thomas County Central | 2023 State GA – Thomas County Central
Prep Redzone’s top-ranked WR in Georgia is back on the market. After decommitting from Auburn, expect no shortage of suitors for Hopkins. Hopkins has been a productive two-way player for Thomas County Central for a few years now, flashing some serious athleticism and physicality. Even at 5’10, he is more than capable of rising up over defenders and showing off his ball skills, often reeling in 50/50 balls fairly easily. Along with his ball skills, he shows some great concentration when the ball is in the air and has soft hands, seemingly catching anything thrown his way. For a smaller receiver, he is extremely physical and has a wide catch radius. With his recruitment back open, expect some big-time schools to get back in the picture.
Cayden Lee Cayden Lee 5'11" | 150 lbs | WR Hillgrove | 2023 State GA – Kennesaw Mountain
Cayden Lee Cayden Lee 5'11" | 150 lbs | WR Hillgrove | 2023 State GA has been generating national buzz for a few years now and capped off his high school career with back-to-back 1000-yard receiving seasons. He has been the focal point of the Kennesaw Mountain offense, helping the Mustangs win plenty of games over the past few seasons. On film, Lee is one of the most dynamic playmakers you will watch in the 2023 class. He is incredibly light on his feet, twitchy, and explosive, which makes him a threat in the downfield passing game and after the catch. He runs crisp and sharp routes, often making defenders look silly. Lee also shows great concentration and body control, often reeling in over-the-shoulder grabs and making catches while off-balanced and falling, I have seen it firsthand. Like Hopkins, Lee is a bonafide P5 prospect that should make a pretty early impact at the next level.
Paul Davis Paul Davis 6'0" | 175 lbs | WR Hart County | 2023 State GA – Hart County
Davis is quietly one of the best nationally hidden prospects in the country and will make one school very happy with his upcoming decision. Davis is one of the most physical and gritty receiver prospects I have seen on film. With the ball in his hands, he showcases the ability to lower his shoulder and bulldoze through would-be tacklers, and he also has a nasty stiff arm which is one of the many ways he breaks free from defenders. With his athleticism and physicality, he is able to go up and over smaller defenders and reel in catches in traffic. Showcases some sticky hands and great concentration, reeling in passes while in tight coverage and while looking over his shoulder. Davis is an extremely dynamic prospect that can make plays at all levels of the field. Due to the catch radius he offers QBs, he is projected at WR, but I believe he could hold his own at the RB position as well.
Robert Lockhart III Robert Lockhart III 5'7" | 170 lbs | WR Langston Hughes | 2023 State GA – Langston Hughes
Lockhart was committed to Jackson State, but recently put himself back on the market. In my opinion, if Lockhart was standing at 6’2 or so instead of 5’7, we would be talking about one of the most highly touted receiver prospects in the country. Lockhart is one of the fastest players in the state, clocking in a 10.7 100-meter time. He is also incredibly twitchy and light on his feet, which he uses to make defenders miss in space. With the ball in his hands, he is a touchdown threat every single play. Once he makes a few people miss, he uses his rare speed to outrun everyone else to the endzone. Lockhart is also a threat in the downfield passing game, using his speed to get behind the safeties and his suddenness to create separation. With his set of tools, the sky is the limit for what Lockhart is capable of.
Darius Cannon Darius Cannon 5'10" | 170 lbs | WR Gainesville | 2023 State GA – Gainesville
Cannon blew up over the summer and took his talents to Gainesville, where he has showcased his skills on an even broader scale. Numerous FBS offers have rolled in his direction, and he will be a sneaky good pickup for whoever locks him down. On film, Cannon flashes some elite footwork, which translates to his route running ability. With his footwork and suddenness, he does an excellent job of running sharp routes and creating separation. Cannon is also an extremely gifted athlete and can go up and over defenders, showcasing his ability to highpoint the ball. In space, Cannon is extremely dangerous. He can make people miss with ease and is very fluid in his movements. On top of his receiving skills, Cannon is one of the best return men in the state. Cannon is one of the more fundamentally sound players you will find in the 2023 class, and that should work out for him as he transitions to the next level.
Andre Craig Andre Craig 6'0" | 185 lbs | WR Meadow Creek | 2023 State GA – Meadowcreek
As Andre Craig Andre Craig 6'0" | 185 lbs | WR Meadow Creek | 2023 State GA wraps up a record-breaking career at Meadowcreek, he will be looking to take his wide range of talents to the next level. The best way I can describe Craig is as “lightning in a bottle”. He is an incredibly energetic and passionate player, which translates to his play style. He is a very explosive and physical WR that can hold his own in traffic and is incredibly difficult to contain. Craig also shows a good understanding of the field and some good body control, making catches while in uncomfortable spots on the field and remaining balanced when off to the races. On top of his receiving skills, he is an extremely dynamic returner. With his wide range of skill sets and energy, he will instantly improve someone’s WR room at the next level.
