Christopher Willis
Christopher was on a team that finished the season 2-9 but nevertheless Willis continues to play with the same intensity the whole season. Christopher is a leader for his team who is known to finish plays and never give up. This season alone Willis made 184 tackles which averages around 20 tackles per game. This guy is well built, does a great job reading his keys and an overall sound football player. He has the potential to be an impact player at both JUCO and colligate levels. Willis had a similar season last year as well proving his consistency as well as potential to play elite football. For this reason Willis is awarded with 4A’s Top 5 Tackler award.
Ellis is a sound linebacker with great tackling ability. This season Malik averaged over 15 tackles per game. He is a solid side line to side line backer who can make impact plays on a consistent basis. With 156 tackles to his name Malik Ellis Malik Ellis 6’4″ | 235 lbs | OL Laurel | 2023 State MS certainly showed that he can play at a high level and that he has what it takes to compete. His skill set would be perfect for many JUCO programs looking to bolster their linebaker room. Due to his performances on the field this year Malik has earned himself the distinction of 4A’s Top 5 Tacklers.
Davin Chung
Davin Chung
David Chung is one of the most efficient tacklers on his team and one of the main reasons as to why they had a ticket to compete in the State Championships this year. He was excellent at reading his keys, defeating blocks and getting to the ball carrier. This season he racked up over 140 tackles with 85 of those being recorded as solo tackles. His performance is quite notable as a junior therefore it would be interesting to see if Lane Kiffin and other coaches present were interested in this notable play maker. There is no doubt that Chung will be able to repeat if not beat this year’s tackling performance. Because of this he has been considered one of 4A’s top 5 Tacklers.
Jordan Gowdy
Jordan Gowdy
Gowdy was an excellent centerpiece for the Knights this season. He was able to be impactful in both the run and the pass game as is seen by both his film and performances. This year Jordan collected 132 tackles with 19 of those going for losses while 83 of his tackles were solo tackles. This young stud is a tackling machine who can get into the opponent’s backfield and cause havoc. He’s got a great build to be an excellent fit to many collegiate programs. Because of his efforts on the field this season Jordan Gowdy is awarded with one of 4A’s Top 5 Tacklers.
Bryson Walters Bryson Walters 6’2″ | 220 lbs | LB Itawamba Agricultural | 2025 State MS has shown that he can be impactful in all aspects of the game as a sophomore. He is able to read opponents guards efficiently and scrape over the top of blocks to make key tackles. This season Walters also had 132 tackles and a little over 10 tackles per game. Bryson is an impressive linebacker who has the potential to be an impactful role player in the next few years as well as at the next level. Due to this kid’s success early on in his career he is awarded with 4A’s Top 5 Tacklers. It will be interesting to see how he does in his Junior and Senior year.
