Terrence Curtis – Parkview
An up and coming defensive back in Gwinnett County, Curtis is a quick, instinctive cornerback with length and ball skills. He reacts quickly when the ball is in the air and has a natural ability to get his hands inside the receiver to knock the ball away. He played against outstanding receivers all season long and practiced against one of the nation’s best every day. The Panthers will have one of the state’s top defensive back groups coming into next season, and Curtis has a chance to really shine as a senior next fall. He had a strong junior season this year making 25 tackles and defending a number of passes on a consistent basis. He earned a new offer from Ole Miss and more could be on the way soon.
Kobi Blackwell – Buford
The Buford Wolves will have plenty of talent returning for next season, and they have another two-way player on the rise that folks need to know about. Dynamic running back/defensive back Kobi Blackwell is coming off an impressive junior season where he consistently made plays on both sides of the ball. A reserve at running back, Blackwell showed big-play potential and excellent speed off the bench. He can make defenders miss and shows quick feet in the open field. His athleticism and speed translates well to defensive back as well, and college coaches are noticing. He’s an easy D1 talent and recently earned offers from Mississippi State and Michigan State.
Jaylin Lackey – South Gwinnett
An under the radar two-way athlete coming off a big junior season where he earned 2nd-Team All Region honors, Lackey put on a show multiple times this year, showcasing impressive breakaway speed and versatility. The 6-foot-0 180-pounder does a great job of reading thee quarterback and closing on the ball in the air. He snatched the ball with ease and is always looking to score. One of the top overall athletes in the area, Lackey shows tremendous ball skills, body control, balance, and gives maximum effort on the field. He’s a player to know about in the offseason who could see his stock continue to rise more and more over time.
Tyshun White Tyshun White 6'0" | 175 lbs | DB Buford | 2024 State GA – Buford
He’s not “under the radar” by any means as he’s already one of the top safety prospects in the state, but he’s someone who should continue to see his stock rise more and more this off-season. He covers a lot of ground down the field and. knows how to come up with a big hit against the run as well. He’s an intimidating defender who brings a physical presence to an already talented Buford secondary. He’s a sure tackler, can come downhill to stop the run, and he’s reliable in coverage down the field. He’s improved more and more each season, and he should be one of the top safety prospects in the state next fall in the 2024 class. White recently earned an offer from Michigan.
