Here, we will dive into some of the top newcomers that entered our rankings across the edge/defensive line.
Corder has entered our rankings and shot up the boards, all the way to the #12 ranked player in the state, and deservingly so. The Meridian product is a terror on the defensive side of the ball and can play both linebacker or a rush end depending on the level and defensive scheme. He has the ideal size for the position, length and can pack on more weight to his frame. Very explosive in the short area, he is a twitchy player that shoots his hands quickly, can redirect and shows elite closing speed and COD in the box. A very physical and tough thumper, he explodes through contact, can take on double teams, recognizes plays quickly and can apply pressure off the edge with fluid hips and a quick use of hands against tackles. He has some of the more impressive tape of any prospect in the state.
Miller is taking his talents to the University of Idaho and is one of the most dominating defenders across the entire state and is very well deserving of cracking the top 40. Putting together a stellar Senior season while one of the states sack leaders, he is a relentless player that plays lights out every snap. Coming off the edge, he has a very explosive first step, can win at the POA with both speed and power, while having heavy hands and good pad level while able to transfer speed to power quickly. Having multiple pass rush moves at his disposal, he is a natural bender around the edge and has under-rated closing speed when collapsing the pocket.
Mundy is a bit of a tweener at the next level but can play either inside as a 3-tech or a SDE depending on the scheme. He has a strong lower half and is stout against the run while shooting his hands, establishing immediate inside hand placement while locking out blockers and violently shedding. He is a high motor player that can two-gap and take on double teams while recognizing blocks quickly and providing a heavy interior pass rush with power moves inside. A D-III+ player, he deserves to crack our rankings and had a very solid Senior season on the Mountain View front seven.
Geslin is another very high quality high school player that had a stellar Senior season and is very deserving to crack our rankings. He is a true inside player that is strong against the run and can play either nose or defensive tackle in college due to his size, strength and twitch in pass rush. Although he does not hold any college offers, he has the potential to play at the next level and could find himself on a roster next Fall.
