1A Offensive Player of the Year, Omarion Blakes
Omarion Blakes Omarion Blakes 5'11" | 175 lbs | ATH McEvans | 2023 State MS showed us why he has been one of the best players in the state over his career. This guy does it all for his team. He played quarterback, receiver, and running back this year on offense. He is known to put up big numbers all the time. That’s just what he does. Blakes had over 20 touchdowns this season. He also had over 1500 all purpose yards. This kid is absolutely amazing. No other person in the North 1A had a season like this kid. He truly deserved this award.
1A South Player of the Year, Ty Jones Ty Jones 6'2" | 200 lbs | RB Bay Springs | 2023 State MS
Ty Jones Ty Jones 6'2" | 200 lbs | RB Bay Springs | 2023 State MS has been committed to Mississippi State for quite some time. He had a very great season on offense. He rushed for over 1500 yards and had over 20 touchdowns on the ground. Jones was a very solid running back this year. Jones had a great season coming out of the backfield. Although he won’t be playing offense in college, he gave it all. Kid was big and aggressive on most of his opponents. He was not easy to tackle this season. He toted the football with a lot of anger this season. Jones definitely meant business all year.
Honorable Mentions
Kyle Phillips had a very great season on offense for the Noxapater Tigers this season. He was playing a lot of different positions getting things done for the Tigers. At the beginning of the season he was playing quarterback. Towards the end of the season he was being used more at the receiver position. No matter where they put him he stepped up to the plate. He did the things you want to see your guys doing on offense. Phillips will have a chance to play JUCO football in college. If he continues to grow he may be able to get on the division one level.
Dylan Ramsey did a great job for Biggersville this season. There aren’t a lot of times you see 1A receivers making big plays. He stepped up and did that all year. He has the height to be able to find himself on the division one level. If he continues to get bigger that can assist him if he makes it to the division one level. He is an absolute stud that balls out every game for their team. Ramsey has a lot of options from different JUCO teams across the state. I will be happy to see his growth. He definitely deserved to be mentioned amongst this bunch.
