CHARLESTON || The state's top-ranked 2A team, Oceanside Collegiate, has been a steamroller offensively all season, even without the services of one of the state's top running backs, senior [player_tooltip player_id='89344' first='Vaughn' last='Blue'].

Blue (pictured) began the season strong enough, rushing for 804 yards in the first five games before injuring a hand that sidelined him for the next six weeks. The 5-11, 180-pound UNC Charlotte commit returned to action on Friday night for his team's 2A Lower State third-round playoff game against Woodland. Boy did he ever return.

Blue rushed for 133 yards and a touchdown and added 101 receiving yards and a touchdown to lead the Landsharks to a blowout 59-18 win over the Wolverines.

"It was tough sitting out and I was thinking there for a while that I might not be cleared to play for the rest of the season," Blue said of his injured right hand. "When they cleared me earlier this week, I was so ready. I couldn't wait to get back out here with my teammates. I was a little nervous at first but once I got hit a few times, I was good to go."

Blue gained 18 yards on his initial carry of the game and followed with 15 yards on his next two carries. He had 91 yards by halftime and had 53 receiving yards on two receptions.
The offense did just about whatever they wanted, thanks to continued play up front. Top-ranked tackle prospect [player_tooltip player_id='89337' first='Monroe' last='Freeling'] anchors a physical unit that comes off the ball with anger on every snap.

2023 tackle [player_tooltip player_id='146357' first='Tim' last='Castain'] is a force on the defensive line, along with rising 2024 prospect [player_tooltip player_id='139300' first='Ben' last='Britton']. 2023 defensive back [player_tooltip player_id='146381' first='Zach' last='Hagedon'] had two interceptions of Woodland quarterback Sudarian Harrison. Harrison ended up throwing three touchdown passes to 2023 receiver Javion Neals and finished with more than 200 passing yards in his final game.

Harrison, who is mulling offers as a corner from Louisville, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma and Vanderbilt, threw for right at 2,000 yards and rushed for more than 1,000 with 45 combined touchdowns.
