Greenville QB [player_tooltip player_id='349806' first='Bryson' last='Drummond'] finished his night with three passing touchdowns, including what would be the game winning touchdown to Cameron Perfater in the right flat with 8:54 to play in the game. Red Raiders coach Greg Porter was pleased with the performance of his young sophomore.

“Every time we show up every game, we don't know what to expect. But we know when he is locked in, we have a chance. And as a young sophomore quarterback stepping doing what he was doing, that is amazing. Every week, he does something fabulous to make you say, did he just make that play? The kids believe in him and the kids follow him and he has their respect and that's half the battle,” Porter said.

The first quarter was scoreless as South Pointe stuffed Greenville on 4th and short and Thomas Edmondson made solid tackles in the open field throughout the night, impressing us with his ability to read plays quickly and react to them. Thomas Guerrero opened the scoring near the end of the first with a 44-yard field goal to put Greenville up 3-0.

BROWN & BENNETT DUO

Drummond connected with Tennessee commit [player_tooltip player_id='163871' first='Mazeo' last='Bennett Jr']. (pictured above) for a 50-yard TD pass to put Greenville up 10-0 with 9:23 to play before the half. [player_tooltip player_id='91149' first='Tyler' last='Brown'] got in on the scoring with a 21-yard TD reception as Greenville took a 17-7 lead to the halftime locker room.

SOUTH POINTE STANDOUTS

Trailing 10-0 in the second, QB Malachi Marshall found Armendiz Huskey over the middle for a 69-yard TD to get the Stallions back in it with 8:02 to play.

The climb back in the third quarter continued as Marshall got into a rhythm with his receivers on the run, which included a throw and a diving catch to Mason Pickett-Hicks. That led to Huskey's second touchdown of the night in the back of the end zone to cut Greenville's lead to 17-14 with 5:54 to play in the third.

“I thought our quarterback played well. He was banged up the entire game, too. Hats off to coach Porter and his football team. When they needed to run the football, they did and we gotta get bigger, we gotta get faster and we gotta get stronger and we've gotta continue to work,” South Pointe coach Bobby Collins said.

The fourth quarter leading up to the exciting finish was highlighted by a fourth down stop from Greenville as the snap was mishandled by South Pointe's Marshall. But he came back a few drives later as Jae Sanders connected with Marshall on the Philly Special for a touchdown but the extra point was missed, keeping the score at 24-20 with 4:27 to play in the game.

[player_tooltip player_id='443499' first='AJ' last='Miller'], the Gardner Webb commit, stood out to us defensively as he got into the backfield repeatedly as his motor was always running. [player_tooltip player_id='146375' first='Jonathan' last='Williams'] was also a guy that made plays in the open field.
