But when the two teams vying for a spot in the next round represent two schools from the same city, it makes things even more interesting. That is the case in Class 6A as the Hamilton Southeastern Royals travel to take on the Fishers Tigers. Fishers will be looking to hand the Royals their first loss while Hamilton Southeastern will aim to continue what has been an impressive season so far.
Hamilton Southeastern Royals
The Royals come into this week undefeated. They reached the 10-0 mark after a convincing win over the Homestead Spartans a week ago. But now they will have to find a way to extend their season on the road. But they certainly have the talent to do just that.
Offense
The offense is led by Quarterback Ty Bradle. The Senior’s experience will be big in this game. Bradle has amassed over 1,500 yards through the air this season. Bradle has shown the ability to run the offense well while protecting the football. He has thrown 16 touchdown passes and only three interceptions. Keep an eye out for Bradle to run the football as well. He has not run it often but he has picked up 82 yards across 19 carries.
Jalen Alexander paces the team on the ground. Currently sitting at 999 yards, the Junior’s next carry could be the one that takes him over the 1,00-yard plateau. Alexander has carried the ball 144 times. He has ran for 11 touchdowns. Teams want consistency and that is exactly what Jalen Alexander has provided for the Hamilton Southeastern offense. He has reached triple digit rushing yard totals in six games this season.
By land or by air, big plays are always seemingly never far away with this offense. When it comes time for someone to make a play on the outside, Donovan Hamilton Donovan Hamilton 6'4" | 190 lbs | WR Hamilton Southeastern | 2024 State IN is frequently the guy. Hamilton has come up with 43 catches on the year. He leads the team in receiving yards with 725 coming into the game against Fishers. Hamilton has brought in nine touchdown receptions.
Defense
Griffin Haas is the centerpiece for the Royals’ defense. From his middle linebacker spot, Haas currently leads the team in tackles. He has put up 76 total tackles with 20 of those being solo tackles. Haas has the ability to get into the backfield and be a disruptor. He has notched five-and-a-half tackles-for-loss this year. Haas has defended against one pass and grabbed one interception.
If Haas is not the one blowing up the play, fellow Senior Evan Sherill typically is. Sherrill has been outstanding this year with 15.5 tackles-for-loss. He has sacked quarterbacks a total of seven-and-a-half times. Sherill has recorded a sum of 39 total tackles. Add in two quarterback hurries and there is plenty of reason for the offensive line of Fishers to be concerned.
Fishers Tigers
The Fishers Tigers- while not undefeated like their opponents- may be starting to peak at just the right time. Last week, they went on the road and took apart Fort Wayne Northrop 49-7.
Offense
Running the offense is Senior Quarterback Luke Minns. Minns has the luxury of having an offense that is balanced. For his part, Minns has completed 71 of his 139 pass attempts. He has garnered 1,029 passing yards with a dozen touchdowns and nine interceptions. Minns’ experience will be critical in this game. If he can make plays and put those around him in positions to succeed then the Tigers will have every opportunity to win the game.
Khobie Martin leads the in rushing yards this season. On 153 carries, he has reached 1,135 rushing yards. Martin has scampered for an impressive 15 touchdowns this year. He will be needed for Fishers to sustain drives. If Martin can have a big night, then Fishers could be in serious business.
Minns has done a terrific job spreading the ball around this year. Three receivers have racked up 270 or more yards this campaign. Leading the way with 311 yards is Carson Dunn Carson Dunn 5'10" | 190 lbs | ATH Fishers | 2023 State IN . Dunn has reeled in three touchdowns during his senior year. Fellow Senior Aidan Zimmer is not far behind with 275 yards and a pair of scores. Junior Joe Syrus Joe Syrus 6'1" | 190 lbs | WR Fishers | 2024 State IN has 270 yards on 15 receptions with a touchdown to boot.
Defense
Grady Stanley has been a defensive standout all season for the Tigers. Stanley can serve as either a Middle or an Outside Linebacker. Stanley has registered 70 tackles this season. 47 of his tackles have been solo and four have been for a loss. He can create penetration, as shown by his three quarterback hurries and one sack. Stanley has added four passes defensed, three forced fumbles and one blocked punt.
Brady Wolf Brady Wolf 6'2" | 225 lbs | DL Fishers | 2024 State IN has the ability to get into the backfield on every play. Without question, he will be a player that the offensive line of Hamilton Southeastern will have to try to keep in check. His junior year has seen him post 40 tackles with an astounding 19.5 tackles-for-loss. Wolf has a dominant tally of 14 sacks. He has hurried the quarterback four times and defended against eight passes. He has also forced and recovered one fumble.
