What Does A Prep Redzone Showcase Look Like?
The Prep Redzone Stock Up Showcase Series is right around the corner! This will be the second year of our winter showcase series, and it’s bound to be the best one yet. This year’s series will cover seventeen different states across the country, featuring some of the nation’s top talent. In this article, we wanted to give you a rundown of what you can expect from a Prep Redzone Showcase!
1 Hour Prior To The Event
Athletes are able to check-in an hour before the event starts. When athletes check-in, they will be given a Prep Redzone Stock-Up Showcase t-shirt with their pre-determined number on the back and a measurables sheet. After that, athletes will walk over to the assigned coaches and get their height and weight recorded on their measurables sheet. Finally, they will walk over to the photographer and will then take two headshots behind the PRZ backdrop. This picture will be linked to your Prep Redzone profile and will go into our Prep Redzone media library. From there, athletes are free to relax, walk around or begin stretching if they feel the need to do so.
Run of Show
Stretch
To begin, the camp director will call all the participants together and will say a few words. Then, the participants will break off into lines and be led through a ten-minute dynamic warm-up by a Prep Redzone coach. This is time for participants to get loose while also getting ready for the testing portion of the showcase.
Testing
This part of the showcase is used to determine a prospect’s overall athleticism, including; speed, agility, explosiveness, change of direction, and leaping ability. Athletes will rotate from testing station to testing station and be tested in the 40-yard dash, L-drill, ten-yard short shuttle, and broad jump. This portion of the event should take around 45 minutes and feature very little standing around. When testing ends, all measurable sheets will be collected and turned in to the camp director.
Individual Drills
Following the testing portion, participants will break up into individual groups by position. From there, your assigned position coach will put you through designed position-specific drills to gauge your ability at your chosen position. This is a great time for coaches and scouts to evaluate prospects & see how your testing translates to on-field ability.
1 on 1s
To cap off the event, participants will compete against fellow athletes on the opposing side of the ball (OL vs. DL, RBs vs. LBs, WRs vs. DBs), with QBs throwing to the RBs & WRs. These will be a mono-e-mono competition to see who are some of the best of the best at the event. This is an extremely competitive segment, but we want to make sure every athlete stays off the ground.
Conclusion of The Showcase
When the final whistle is blown, the group will get together as a whole and take a knee. After speaking with coaches and Prep Redzone scouts, the camp director will announce the seven positional MVP awards. Finally, the group will get one last break, which concludes the showcase. Participants are more than welcome to stick around afterward and talk with the college coaches in attendance or Prep Redzone scouts.
What to Expect After the Showcase
Coverage from the Prep Redzone Showcase will begin to appear on our site within 1-2 days of the event occurring. Following the event, results from the showcase will be sent out to participants three days after the event. Participants will have forty-eight hours to email the Prep Redzone events staff if they’d like to scratch any of their measurables. After those forty-eight hours, results will be sent out to college coaches who pre-registered for the event. Photos from the event generally will be posted on our site within 3-4 days as well.
