4A Running Back of the Week
Isaiah Jones, Mesa Ridge Grizzlies (RB)(JR.)- When you turn on the tape for the Grizzlies Jones is one player that really stands out. Jones is a nice size back that has good vision, lets his blocks develop and hits the hole with speed. He is a back that leaves people in his dust when he gets in the open field. Jones had 28 carries for 224 yards with 2 touchdowns and was able to break a lot of tackles along the way. Jones is a great physical back and will continue to help drive his team in the next round as well as next year.
Noah Triplett Noah Triplett 5'9" | 170 lbs | RB Dakota Ridge | 2023 State CO , Dakota Ridge Eagles (RB)(SR.)- Triplett didn’t have as many carries as the rest of the backs but he definitely capitalized on the carries he did have. He had 9 rushes for 98 yards and 3 touchdowns. He has good hands and is able to catch the ball out of the backfield. Has good vision and is a physical runner that breaks tackles. He is a touchdown machine and will have to continue this streak in the next round.
Corben Rowell, Fruita Monument Wildcats (QB)(SR.)- Rowell didn’t have a great night throwing the ball only connecting on 4 of his 8 passes for 63 yards with 1 passing touchdown and 1 interception. He was able to bounce back in the running game and had 23 rushes for 149 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns. If he is able to continue to use his legs in the running game it should help open up the passing game.
Andrew Plutt, Pueblo West Cyclones (RB)(SR.)- In what seems to be a trend for pueblo teams they are able to make deep runs into the playoffs and Plutt plans to put his team on his back in this run. Plutt wasn’t able to score but he had some explosive runs, rushing the ball 20 times for 192 yards. He is able to get those big hitters having his longest run of 60 yards. The Cyclones will need those explosive plays if they want to make a run this year.
Jazel Riley IV Jazel Riley IV 6'2" | 210 lbs | QB Golden | 2023 State CO , Golden Demons (QB)(SR.)- This kid gets a extra points from me since we are both the IV of our names and he also doesn’t disappoint. Riley had a balanced game throwing for 168 with 1 passing touchdown and 1 interception, he also had 16 carries for 147 yards and 2 touchdowns. He is an option QB and when he gets into the open field his track background takes over and is hard to catch. If Riley is able to limit the turnovers he will have a chance to duplicate that performance this week.
