Which star players will likely play all over the field this weekend?
Let’s take a look…
Caleb Downs Caleb Downs 5'11" | 180 lbs | DB Mill Creek | 2023 State GA – Mill Creek
This one’s easy. The top-ranked prospect in the entire state, Downs is a five-star defensive back on paper, but he’s a five-star athlete all around. The dynamic playmaker will play in the secondary at Alabama, but you can expect to see him playing on offense, defense, and special teams against a tough Milton team this weekend. He’s electric with the ball in his hands, has tremendous ball skills, and his knack for making plays makes him one of the top overall prospects in the country for the 2023 class. He’s scored 17 touchdowns as a runner offensively and scored two more as a receiver. In the secondary, Downs has made 66 tackles and made 5 INTs. He’s a special player and may never leave thee field on Friday night in the 7A semi-finals.
Debron Gatling Debron Gatling 6'2" | 180 lbs | WR Milton | 2024 State GA – Milton
One of the top 2024 playmakers in the state, Gatling has been a go-top option for thee Milton offense as a receiver, but can turn around and lock down opposing receivers in the secondary. At 6-foot-1 175-pounds, Gatling may be a junior, but he’s without a doubt one of the top players in a loaded Milton Eagle team. In round three last weekend, Gatling was unstoppable on offense, catching 4 passes for 100 yards and two touchdowns. Gatling also had 2 INTs with one retuned for a TD for “around 75 yards”. He had the game of a lifetime against Grayson in round three, so expect him to play another important role on both sides of the ball this weekend against Mill Creek.
Khalil Barnes Khalil Barnes 5'11" | 175 lbs | WR North Oconee | 2023 State GA – North Oconee
One of thee breakout prospects in the state this year in the 2023 class, Barnes is a playmaking machine who has seen his recruitment take off after dominating as a senior on both sides of the ball this year. A sure-handed receiver with impressive toughness and instincts in the secondary, there’s a lot to like about his game and it’s why he’s earned heavy interest this fall from Clemson, Notre Dame, and other Power 5 schools. He’s helped lead North Oconee to an undefeated season so far, and he’ll likely play a major part in their semi-final game against Cedartown in the 4A semi-finals.
Jalewis Solomon Jalewis Solomon 6'0" | 185 lbs | WR Schley County | 2024 State GA – Schley County
One of the top two-way players across the state in the 2024 class, the small-town athlete already has multiple impressive Power 5 offers and it’s easy to see why. Consistently one of the top athletes on the field, Solomon dominated on both sides of the ball last weekend in a win over Wilcox County, catching three passes for 24 yards on offense, along with 7 tackles 2 TFLs, one PBU and one INT that was returned for a touchdown. His squad ran thee ball effectively so he didn’t have to do too much offensively, but his ability to change the game on defense is what makes him one of the top two-way athletes in South Georgia. Look for the four-star prospect to play all over the place in their Single-A semi-final game against Johnson County.
