Who are they? Let’s take a look…
Charlie Pace Charlie Pace 5'8" | 185 lbs | RB Colquitt County | 2023 State GA – Colquitt County
One of the the top running backs in South Georgia, the senior helped lead the way to another impressive win for the Packers over the weekend. In a 49-28 win over Harrison, the Georgia State commitment led the way on the ground with 14 carries for 143 yards and two touchdowns. He’s been a reliable ball-carrier for Colquitt County all season long and has shown to be a dependable option in the playoffs. His 10.2 yards per carry average puts him on the list as one of round two’s top running backs.
Malachi Jeffries – Cartersville
Thee Purple Hurricanes are no stranger to playoff success and have a chance to have another championship-caliber season this season. A big reason why is due to the play of their senior running back, Malachi Jeffries. A bigger, tougher back who can break tackles with ease, Jeffries is tough to bring down at 5-foot-11 215-pounds and ran through Cambridge during a 37-14 victory. Jeffries was excellent in the victory, rushing 23 times for 145 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught one pass for 64 yards and another touchdown. Look for him to keep running the ball often in round three.
Naim Cheeks – Gainesville
The Red Elephants are on a mission right now, and that’s a state championship. It’s a program on the rise and they have plenty of talent on the roster this season. They have a standout running back in senior Naim Cheeks who is tough to handle at 5’10 180-pounds. He had a big showing against South Paulding in round two, carrying the load on the ground in their big 42-21 victory. The Red Elephants wanted to establish a strong rushing attack and Cheeks was able to make that happen. He rushed 30 times in the win for 206 yards and two touchdowns. Look for Gainesville to rely heavily on Cheeks for the rest of the way.
Nykahi Davenport JR – Roswell
One of the breakout running backs in the 2024 class, Davenport is a shifty back who knows how to make defenders miss past the line of scrimmage. A tough, reliable runner with big-play potential anytime he has the ball, Davenport has plenty of size at 6-foot-0 190-pounds with the ability to run through tackles. He’s been terrific in thee postseason and is coming off a monster round two performance where he rushed 23 times for 233 yards and three touchdown in a 49-31 win over Allatoona. The playmaking junior has rushed for over 1,700 yards this season with 20+ touchdowns. He’ll have a tough task on his hands as the Hornets play undefeated Thomas County Central this weekend in round three.
