For the last week of the regular season, I watched The Stratford Spartans vs The Jersey Village Falcons. Both teams are highly ranked in their division and held the same record so before playoffs, both teams needed to win to have good placement during playoffs. At the beginning of the game, Stratford had momentum overwhelming Jersey Village on both offense and defense. However, during the 3rd quarter, Jersey Village kicked it in the 2nd gear and started to catch up to Stratford. Although, in the 4th quarter Stratford just couldn’t be stopped yet again overwhelming Jersey Village resulting in the final score of the game being 49-28. In this article, I’ll be discussing The Stratford Spartan’s standouts on offense.
#88 Hawkins Polley Hawkins Polley 6'4" | 220 lbs | TE Stratford | 2023 State TX TE, WR Sr 6’4 245 lbs
Hawkins Polley Hawkins Polley 6'4" | 220 lbs | TE Stratford | 2023 State TX is a gigantic tight end and is built like a brick wall. As a brick wall, Hawkins is immovable and moves everyone when he blocks providing great protection and preventing anyone to get past him. Hawkins’s aggressiveness made him stand out #2 Dallas Payne struggled to run the ball into the end zone on the one-yard line so he went full throttle into the pit to push him in for a touchdown. However, Hawkins is more than just his massive size when he catches the ball he will get positive results fast and with a long stride, his point A to point B was drastically different from everyone else. Hawkins is a top college prospect having tons of offers from colleges and universities, but the college he chose to commit to was Baylor University. Hawkins rushed in for one touchdown.
#4 Luke Rivas WR Jr 6’0 160 lbs
Luke Rivas is an extremely fast wide receiver. Luke plays as a slot wide receiver it was the best position to showcase his speed. Luke was the key wide receiver always getting open for passes and beating out Jersey Village defenders. Even though Stratford’s offense ran the ball majority of the time Luke’s catches and touchdowns were able to give Stratford momentum. Especially Luke’s 88-yard touchdown that left Jersey Village’s defenders in the dust. Luke’s stats were 3 receptions with 131 yards and two touchdowns.
#2 Dallas Payne RB, SB Sr 5’6 175 lbs
Dallas Payne is a little man with a lot of heart and power. Dallas left a massive impact every time he ran the ball. Dallas was able to effortlessly slip through Jersey Village’s defense and run for a big gain. Despite his size, Dallas has tremendous power in his legs being able to run through tackles with impressive speed. Dallas’ stats were 21 carries with 190 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns.
#0 Jake Brand WR Sr 5’10
Jake Brand is an adequate wide receiver. Jake was showcasing a good amount of speed throughout the whole game and was giving the Jersey Village defenders a run for their money. Jake also had one of the most confusing touchdowns I have ever seen in my life. Jake caught a pass before he had complete control of it and got tackled drop it in the end zone it was technically a fumble and Jake recovered it for a touchdown. Jake’s stats were 3 receptions with 70 yards and one touchdown.
